I think you can ask your barangay to issue a valid ID

Our company has started to send reminders to everyone with a corporate phone... I think we need to register again.

You’re supposed to provide your name, address, sex, and date of birth. Doesn’t this violate the Data Privacy Act?

First day, yes. so there will be something to post on their FB then 2nd day no more hype until the last day again for the last 2 minutes. Pinoy style as always.
but am really looking forward how they will be implementing this without chaos, but its so sketchy on the rule when will Telco starts? a day after xmas? are they serious or hangover lang yan? and when will all the hundreds of millions of sims deactivated?

I hope they keep their word. But TBH, I can't recall what sort of documents I gave them when I applied for my postpaid acct. That was maybe 25 years ago.

just wonder how will they keep our personal record and secure them for 5 years, 10 years? 100 years? do they have that capability?

Is it really that hard to imagine? They have datacenters and the cloud. Besides, subscriber data in itself doesn't take up much space. If any, it's probably the call logs (CDR), text messages, etc., that they may be compelled to keep for several years.

I'm sure telcos, like financial, medical, and other institutions, along with other utilities (electric, water), etc., are bound by guidelines set forth by whoever is governing them (BSP, NTC, etc.) in terms of record-keeping, retention, and disposal. Add to that other governing bodies like the National Privacy Commission (for DPA) and if you deal with EU customers, GDPR.... all details the who, what, how, where, when and other what-have-you's on personal data collection, storage, and destruction.

Suffice to say, active subscriber data are kept indefinitely for obvious reasons. Inactive/terminated/dormant subscriber data are typically destroyed after a set number of years (5 years, if I'm not mistaken).

I believe the upcoming law requires face & voice recognition submission as well.

all the data collect might just spam us in other social channels, not just sms, there must be a new way to haunt us, remember those days sms with unknown origin? spam emails? perhaps spam messengers. it doesnt stops
all my phones I disabled my sms app, only 1 phone to receive OTP and I got most spams from telcos, about 5-10 sms a day per telco. may be now they will be the sole spammer

Classic Filipino online systems as usual.

1:41am both Globe and Smart's actual form for SIM registration are nowhere to be found while the DITO app where users can do the SIM registration is under maintenance.

hehe.. what is new with our beloved Telcos.. this is so normal
they are very much ready, even their Sorry page and problem notices are all readied.... but not the smooth process promised.
now how can their offices in province to handle those without access to smart phones and data.
lets see how bad this can be.

For Smart postpaid, Text YES and send to 5858 to register your SIM.
