Been following the other watch thread for quite some time now and recently became fascinated with seikos. I know there are quite a few members here who are quite knowledgeable on seikos. I don't know a thing about it and tried shopping on ebay and got myself a nice chrono watch that turns out to be a quartz. eager beaver. While I'm still waiting for it to arrive, I've been trying to read more about seikos.

Can anyone tell me what the "desirable" models are and how much they usually go for? I like the bullheads a lot but came across a website warning against frankensteins. I've seen such examples on ebay and glad that my bid did not win. I usually like chrono or pilot watches but can go for a diver too as long as it doesnt look like a toy on my wrist. I see that a lot of the seiko vendors are from the Philippines. Sadly a lot of them arent in good shape anymore with wrong colored hands, missing parts, etc.

Thanks for your replies and looking forward to see your collections.

    Hey, TrackShields!

Check out this other forum on watches! All you need to know about Seiko from collectors/owners/newbies can be found there.

You can also try the search function in PhilMug coz I remember someone posting some info about Seiko collections.

    hi mykolant,

thanks for the link. I've read some of the posts on the other thread about seikos but it's buried deep in dozens of pages worth of general watch threads. Just thought it would be nice to have a dedicated one for more convenient and specific discussions.

Its been mentioned in the other watch thread as well as other watch fora that the best prices for Seiko watches are at Citizen Emporium in Avenida. I think they have a branch in Araneta Center, Cubao. Will have to check that out to save on the trip to old Manila...

saan sa cubao? i dont like going to manila... crazy traffic and no parking comes to mind. thanks.

Can anyone suggest new seiko models that are considered desirable by seiko fans? I'm guessong it's probably an automatic. I personally like pilot, and chrono watches. any suggestions? thanks.

I've been eyeing this watch on ebay too! might look better on a leather strap IMO. Someone from singapore is selling this brand new on ebay for about $140 if i'm not mistaken. sayang nga kasi i ordered another chrono from him already. mas gusto ko to. My order hasn't arrived yet so I'll wait for that one first and see how it goes before i purchase more items from him. Too bad this watch is not an automatic.

^^^Love that classic 6105! Was offered one a few weeks ago for P15k, original face and hands, not sure how much of the movement was original though.

just wondering, since i've never been to that store in manila... how does it compare to ebay? what deals are better there than anywhere else? brand new? vintage? lowest prices? Noticed that most of the vintage seiko sellers on ebay are from the Philippines. I wonder why...
