since yesterday, my safari has been quitting unexpectedly. I have installed the updates via software updates but they were several days ago. an i don't think it has something to do with that. my safari: Version 2.0.4 (419.3) my powerbook set up: 1.25 gig ram and 21 gig free HD space I have tried verifying permission and there is nothing there. i already tried resetting and clearing my safari cache but is still quits. I also tried running onyx and appljack but still resets... what could be wrong then?
My Safari quits so often now. Ever since that darn beta... even when I reverted to 2.0.4. My preferences are also screwed up - only Tab Exposé is shown. The other tabs have disappeared. I'm now looking for a full restoration from the original install disks.
No such luck. I tried the install disks and did the "Show Package Contents" thing to find Safari and couldn't locate it. Any tips, guys?
my safari is also quitting as soon as i open it in my user account. But it works perfectly when i use the user account of my brother. What do i need do to access it in my own user account? Please please help! this is making me crazy! Thanks! jen
just to update... my safari has not quit for the day. i didn't do anything. i'm just glad it hasn't quit on me yet
Okay mga dudes, you can try this... Tama sila test with another user, if safari works therem you only have bad preference file. These are files you have to drop/delete, or drag to you desktop. ~/library/preference/com.apple.safari.plist ~/library/cache try doing that. If it still doesnt work you have to uninstall safari. tO do that trash safari. Also you have to delete a package file let just find that out, one sec..... ok got it. it's in /Library/receipt so, trash safari to uninstall, then, remove safari.pkg in /library/receipt reinstall safari gud luck!
Ow by the way, when dropping files from preferences make sure thatapplication is not running just not to cause much more trouble. after dropping the files now you can open the Application.
before lagi talaga nagququit bigla bigla. and then ngayon right after updating os X. di na sya nagquit basta basta.
@soloworx, I think your best option now is to do an "Archive and Install" of OS X. It should keep all your preferences and settings but should replace any damaged system files. Don't forget to perform a Software Update after the installation. Of course, you should also have an up-to-date backup before you do the reinstall.
i just observed something weird... i think my safari quits everytime i wake my PB from sleep. After I boot up again it won't quit anymore...
Thanks patrickgaerlan. I was afraid I'd eventually do that. I was hoping I could extract Safari and reinstall it without touching the other apps.
Don't worry, an "Archive and Install" installation shouldn't affect any of your existing apps, settings, or data. You'll just have to run Software Update to make sure that the components that have been replaced are updated again.
Hi patrickgaerlan, looks like I won't have to Archive and Install after all. I simply trashed the Safari plist file in my Home Library, restarted Safari and it looks normal already. The preferences tabs are all present and accounted for and for the last half-hour, Safari has not quit.
John try to test it in another user, if same thing happen after putting PB to sleep. and asafari quitz.. you might wanna do archive and install... if it works fine there, you only have a bad plist.. you can first try dropping safari.plist.. test it.. if it still the same, drop systempreferences.plist. if it still the same, drop the whole preference folder, logout - log in - test. if it still the same do archive and install. all plist is in ~/library/preferences.
thanks foxdie... did what you suggested and it is all okay now! finally! another question, totally no connection with safari... my brother installed limewire.... how do i unistall it? i can't find it in the library... thanks in advance!!!! jen
Great! I just want to clarify if I understood your previous problem correctly? Your System Preferences items were screwed up too? And now they're okay?
Not the System Prefs, just the Prefs for Safari. 'Di ba it should show a few tabs like General, Appearance, Bookmarks, Tabs, etc? In mine, it only showed TabExposé, nothing else. But that problem has been dealt with per my earlier post. Thanks patrick!
