i'm not sure if i'm posting this in the proper forum, it's just that i tend to get a prompt when i visit certain blogs using safari. i've never encountered this problem on firefox.

    anyone care to explain?

is it a public blog that you're browsing? maybe some of the content is accessible only to the blog owner, that's why it's asking for an ID and password..

there is a protected directory that the blog owner has set. The problem is that there might be an invisible reference to a file inside that protected directory. Usually happens with stat trackers. The stats directory is protected however the main page is trying to access the tracker from that protected directory.

In simple words, just click cancel. It's not your browser's problem; it's the blog owner's. :)
