Do anyone know where to buy a Roku 3 locally? Just wanted to check this out if there are. For plex purposes only if you are curious :)

    Thanks

Haven't checked recently but a year or so back, there were at least a couple of ads on olx but they were way too expensive. The best place to get it is online and have it shipped via myEcasa or MSB.

You might even chance a sale on Roku's site and get discounts on refurbished models. I've bought three Roku 3's in the past 2-3 years and the first one was a refurbished unit. Never had an issue with it.

I agree that you buy it online.

    A little bit OT:
Do you need to have VPN to stream the channels? Is it sluggish? Thanks!

Expect a diminished experience when you don't have a VPN for the Roku. Major streaming sites like Netflix, Hulu, Crackle, among others, requires a VPN connection. If you only need it for Plex, a VPN is probably not necessary. However, installing the Plex app initially might require a VPN.

Sluggish? Are you talking about the Roku's UI or the playback performance? The Roku 3's UI is fast. As for streaming performance, it will depend on your internet connection. Have at least a 4-8 mbps connection to enjoy HD and/or multiple streaming.
