I don't have those problems using Quicktime Pro with DivX installed. But a friend of mine has been having problems, not being able to play them on her Powerbook at all whereas it plays fine on her G4 mac mini.

Anyway yeah VLC works like a charm. Go try that first.

Try installing Perian. Its a FREE plugin that allows quicktime to play these popular video formats:
    • Divx, XviD, FLV, AVI
    • MS-MPEG4 v1, MS-MPEG4 v2, MS-MPEG4 v3, DivX 3.11 alpha, 3ivX, Sorenson H.263, Flash Screen Video, Truemotion VP6
    • These formats when they are inside an AVI:
      h.264, mpeg4, AAC, AC3 Audio, and VBR MP3.

minsan may problem ang VLC player, open mo muna ung application mismo(VLC player)
then you open the .avi file on the VLC player, that's what i do, hindi na nag eerror

have you isolated the problem to be with the software? Baka naman it's the file you downloaded. Galing sa Limewire yan, diba?

Thanks for this nice plugin! Now I can play XVID files that can't be handled by DivX. :)
