Hi guys! I'm the one who posted about a broken Logic Board just yesterday. (If you want to read it, here is the thread.) First off, I'd like to thank everyone for their opinions and comments ^o^ so: thanks guys!

    Now, I have a question...

I had the diagnostic test of my Macbook done at Senco Link Tech at Makati. It cost 300php, and it was with them for three and a half working days. They're the ones who reported that my Macbook was constantly hanging not because of the fan nor the HD (which were the initial problems), but because the Logic Board was already dying.

The option my family has now is: to get a new Macbook. We're done with canvassing and etc, but I really don't want my parents to just buy another one just like that. I want to get a 2nd opinion somewhere.

My Macbook is still working, see, and I'm even using it to browse the net now, type this, and do my school projects. But yeah, it keeps on hanging when I multitask, transfer files, etc. I'm safe if I don't do heavy stuff, as well as when I've only got one or two apps open.

So~ do you awesome guys/gals here at PhilMug have any suggestions regarding a good, fast and reliable service center where I can have my Macbook tested again -- for a diagnostic test or something to isolate the problem?

If the problem is something else, we might have to spend less, and I'd really like that.

I was thinking PowerMac, but I'm not so sure of their speed. I saw a list of Service Centers already, but I don't know which one I should choose. I'd really prefer one that (besides being credible and reliable) has a reasonable price, and that doesn't take too long. And haha, somewhere I can reach, of course.

Btw, I live in QC, but anywhere within the Metro Manila area is fine. ^o^ Thanks so much!

You should've have post this in your old thread. Mods doesn't like you starting another thread if it's related to your old one just 1 day after posting. Anyways, you can bring your unit to digital hub. Just pm sir charlie about info. You can also bring it to ynzal if they still service Apple products because I think they got stripped of their authorized reseller status of apple Macs. Ynzal is located in qc btw.

Edit: Check here for the list of Apple authorized Service Center in the Philippines.

Thank you. I saw that list before, and I really didn't know who to choose. Thanks for your rec.

And I'm sorry, I didn't know, this was just my second time posting here at PhilMug. Thanks for the info though, I'll be sure not to do this again. The idea to ask here struck me late, and I wasn't sure if an edit would cut it, so... But anyway, no excuses. I'm sorry.

No worries just trying to let you know. Just go to Digital Hub, I heard they have great service over there and the techs are really nice.

Consider buying a logic board on eBay from a reputable seller and have it replaced locally.

I wanted to do that initially -- the moment I found out my Logic Board was dying I immediately searched e-bay and found some good finds. But my parents brought up the question: what if something gets destroyed again... and again? They kind of prefer buying a new one with AppleCare, for insurance and stuff. They do have a point. And I really only can suggest, because it is their money in the end...

    Plus -- I'm on Tiger (Leopard came out a few months after my purchase, what luck, haha), and I was supposed to buy the Leopard install disk (the Mac Box, actually). My mom likes the idea that the new one will be on Leopard already. ^^;

In any case, thanks for your opinion. ^o^ I really considered that too.

Hi Gio, I'm very sorry for the late reply, I only saw your post now. Its a good two months later, but in case you still need my answer, here it is:

I ended up buying a new Macbook around May 2009. Right now I'm on Apple Care (I learned my lesson) and I really have to say, its worth it. I weighed the pros and cons -- buying a new Logic Board would've been expensive and not worth it because in case something else goes wrong, we'd have to spend again and again. With a new Macbook + Apple Care, I'm at least insured until May 2012.

Apple Care is great; in the past two years, its benefited me many times: my LCD broke, and I got it replaced free. Of course, the classic cracks that the old Macbook whites have also plagued me at one point, and they replaced that too. Plus they also changed my keyboard. I think with just those three, I've definitely gotten more than what my money is worth.

Of course, whether to buy a new laptop or to just buy a new logic board -- the decision is really up to you. Hope my experience helped.

    Good luck, and God bless.
