Has anyone heard of this game? This has got to be the dark horse for game of the year. It's a 3rd person Action RPG game set in a Medieval setting. What sets this game apart from other games in its genre is its difficulty. Its really hard especially in this generation of gamers where there are really no more penalties in missing that jump or dying. When you die here, you WILL regret it. A lot of what you worked hard for will be gone maybe even make you quit playing it. The gameplay mechanics are solid and the control is superb so you cannot blame your blunders from a lousy control scheme or unfair foes. I haven't gone very far into the game but I'm loving it so far. I'm loving the PS3 this year. After I'm done with this, I'm getting Uncharted 2. That may be a long time from now though..
yup. it's been around for some time but just recently released in the US. i've heard that it's an excellent, frustratingly difficult but ultimately fulfilling game. been thinking about getting it but i'm a bit wary of RPGs. heard that it has 16 boss fights?
16 bosses? i saw some trailers and saw one boss and he is massive!!!! also saw the game in action in HD and it looks awesome!!! been thinking of picking this up too but Tekken 6 BR is coming soon and i don't think i'll be able to focus on this game until i wear out my thumbs with tekken 6
From the review, it does look awesome. Its like Blizzard's Diablo. Gamespot calls the multiplayer aspect ingenious. watch the review
^lol i wonder how many hours an average gamer needs to finish this game (ofcourse taking into account the fact that he's average and would probably die alot)
^From what I heard 40 to 60 hours to finish the game. Also in the 2nd playthrough, you get to keep your stats and equipment but the difficulty also ramps up. It's a lot of fun in that there is always tension since you're so afraid to die. Makes you feel like the odds are against you all the way. At no point can you be too powerful that it will become a cakewalk although it will get easier because you will have developed your skills as a gamer.
^sounds like my kind of RPG i always finished RPG games while i was low on level (for the challenge) and saved leveling up for after i finish the game, but with this game i hope its not difficult because u need to do the level up grind but because its really challenging. 40 - 60 hours sounds really good hope i can fit this game into my schedule
i don't know, somehow "frustratingly difficult" no longer appeals to me . i used to play (on PC), baldur's gate, neverwinter nights, etc. i didn't even think of diablo being difficult. but that was then. now, i just play to relax, be amused & entertained, i guess it comes with age not taking away anything from DS though, saw the video & read the reviews (it looks great!)
^I think its "frustratingly difficult" to gamers weaned in this generation's games. Based on the games you mentioned, I think you'd have a moderately difficult time and you'd at least be entertained but perhaps you won't be able to relax
@Theus i share your sentiments with relaxing with games hehe. although what appeals to me with Demon's souls is the enromous enemies i saw in the trailer and its not a point and click RTS like RPG. it kind of looks like what the first ps castlevania should've been @Netskipper this generation of gaming is spoiled with game saves and checkpoints which was almost non existent for those with NES before unless it was an RPG game hehe
Yep! Not that its a bad thing. I mean I'd attribute this as one reason for the growth of the video game industry. It has made it more accessible for the mass market. However it is nice to have games like DS that bring us back.
Just played it for a few days and its a fantastic game. Everything about it is great. Also I agree with fleadip, for old school gamers weaned on hard 8 and 16bit games of yore, Demon Souls is not frighteningly difficult, challenging but not balls-on hard.
I've yet to grab my copy... Sadly the bundle with the guide and artbooks are all out... I think I'll have to settle with the plain game itself. :\
Ostrava of Boletaria went and died on me. Should have set his shiny tush on fire with my Dragon Knight Sword +4 when I had the chance. So I didn't get the Mausoleum key and I can't get Demonbrand and skewer Old King Doran with my flying spear+9. If you're online, a little help please? I think its possible for a phantom to open the door in my world...? Gawd, just listen to me. This game has possesed me. Must... get... more... souls... PSN ID: Kennneth
sir kenneth what's your soul level? I have an extra demonbrandt. Already on my new game ++. Deluxe Edition R1 copy
