    Hi All,

Did a search but wasn't able to find anything about the problem.

I've been having trouble with my quicktime player (mine's v. 7.5). I've been trying to play .avi files but i only get audio (note: i have the latest version of flip4mac installed).

    thanks in advance y'all

    cheers

i also have a problem with quicktime ever since i downloaded the new version. My old movies with .avi only showed the video and no audio coming out. I tried to tick the default in MIME setting and still no improvement. I modified the MIME and tick the ones with .avi and still no sound. Can you help me with this? thanks

    Hi Patrick,

I'll give it a whirl when I get home and let you know what happens.

    Thanks.

    Cheers.

using VLC too and it works fine

i've got perian installed as well as someother components (AC3MovieImport and xVid Codec 1.0)i found on the web but still no luck. even 3gp vids only play sounds and not the visuals.

i've tried viewing HD trailers on apple.com and no luck. i only get a gray screen :(

Did you download the trailer or is it playing from a link on a web page?

Have you tried creating another account and see if QuickTime Player works properly there?

to my understanding, it's a dvd/cd burning software. how will it help solve the quicktime problem?

that's the thing...i got work from apple that divx plug-ins tend to conflict with QT7.5...anyway, i already have it installed but still, same problem as mine.

i've even tried installing DivX components from apple itself but it didn't fix anything :(

i used VLC to play the avi file i was trying to run and encountered no problems so i'm pretty sure it's not the file itself. i'll give the DivX in toast a try...
