i can understand your sentiments.. XD but boot camp isn't that bad.. XD when you play dota in mac, some sound effects wont work properly or wont work at all especially MOOONSTER KILL!!! DOUBLE KILL!! TRIPLE KILL!!! HOLY *HIT!!!
hehehe... and the resolution will be stretched if you play on a widescreen mac like the MBP.. XD

I haven't had sound issues with DotA on the Mac... and I've been playing for 2+ years already. As long as you have the original copy, there's no problem playing WC3 on OS X. BTW, even on widescreen PC laptops and monitors, the screen will be stretched. Blizzard needs to include widescreen resolutions in the next update.

i have original cd's and have the same problem before. but the latest patch has already fixed this.

    v1.22 patch

    FIXES
    - The cooldown on unlimited usable items (example: the staff of preservation) now persists after the item is dropped or traded.
    - A cooldown exploit with potions has been fixed.
    - When you unburrow a Crypt Fiend, its auto-cast will no longer be toggled off.
    - An exploit bug in which items could lose their cooldowns when transferred between heroes has been fixed.
    - Fixed DotA-specific sound effects on Intel Macs.
    - Fixed sound falloff on Intel Macs. Distant sounds should now still be
    audible.

I don't have any problems with playing DotA on OS X. The screen gets stretched, but well, it's bearable.

The latest patch is 1.22a. And it eliminates the need to actually have the CD in the drive when you play. (BTW, same goes for the other Blizzard games, i.e., Diablo II; you just have to download the latest patches - though don't try to run the patches on cracked WC3 or D2 'cuz they won't work).

Haven't tried playing DotA via GGClient on Crossover too.

Do you mean for warcraft or the map itself? :) If it's the map, it's 6.67c i think. Haven't played in a while though since I've moved on to HoN (Heroes of Newerth). :D

afaik, all versions with the same number, regardless of what letter will work.

eg, 1.24, 1.24b,c,d will work with each other. ( you gotta be same version to play bnet or lan games)

if you're playing on GARENA its either 1.24d or 1.24e

    1.24d on the public rooms

1.24e on private rooms like mineski grounds, infinity etc.

Garena doesn't have an OSX client.

    I came across this: www.dotapod.com

Haven't tried it though as I haven't played WC3 for a while now and only play ladder games anyway.
