Hello, everyone! Welcome to the Post Your Desktop II thread. The old one has gotten long and old and unwieldy, so I have locked it and created a new one.

So to begin, let me summarize what went on in the old thread.

Here are the various sources for wallpaper images:

    Wallpaper Garage
    Pixelgirlpresents
    Social Wallpapering
    Macdesktops.com
    Vlad Studio
    Interfacelift
    Industrial Images
    Transformers
    The Beatles Wallpapers
    Blurburger

Deviantart is a favorite source for icons, as well as Pixelgirlpresents and Interfacelift.

Here are some sources for tweaking your desktop’s look:

Make the dock transparent through Transparent Dock
Make the dock transparent for Intel Macs through Clear Dock
    Hide the menubar with MenuShade
Switch the mac into night vision mode with Nocturne
Hide your desktop clutter with Desktopple
Add a floating clock on your desktop with World Clock Deluxe
Put a clock and the date on your desktop with Stattoo

    And finally, the how-tos:

How to change icons? Here's the thread.
How to embed photos in the post instead of attaching the image? Here's the thread.

How to take photo of your desktop? This can be done in either of two ways:
    1. Press simultaneously apple+shift+3.
    2. By using Grab an application that comes with OS X.

Okay, now let's continue sharing our desktop images. Enjoy this new thread! :)

Maryanne, thanks for putting them all in one post. Really appreciate the effort.

@Nickster, nice to see some oranges here for a change. Most of the time, all I see here are apples.;)

I can't find the preview so I couldn't tell if I posted the link right. I guess I'm about to find out as soon as I hit the post button.

No problem, guys. I enjoyed going through that thread, all 49 pages of them, as it reminded me of so many fun things. And I saw my old desktops again as well. Major nostalgia fest, if you call remembering the events from six months ago nostalgic. :)

I'd say this "new" thread is a capital idea! Looks like maryannemoll IS living up to her avatar, hahaha :p I'm excited to see those new desktops!

that set of instruction from maryannemoll made it super easy to get it right, thanks. the only hitch i ever had to deal with was flipping that dang apple using iPhoto and it just wouldn't go. So i finally had to migrate all my icons to the far left so it'll look neat. had a blast doing it.

Haha! PhilMUGgers have got the coolest desktops ever. I also changed my desktop today, but of course kept to my standard theme (empty desktop, hidden dock, transparent Menubar, and two clocks on World Clock).

And here's how it looks with Adium on. This second capture is more accurate, really, since my Adium is always on that the window is virtually part of the desktop already. I have begun to have the habit of changing the Adium's background color and opacity to match the desktop image.

maryannemoll's desktop look uber chic in a very minimalist sort of way. very nice. did you have to align them by cropping the image to fit their respective areas? does your Adium automatically goes to that exact spot when u log in?

Nice wallpaper! I don't know about you guys but everytime I see a well-lit empty room with large windows, I get that "tingling sensation".. It's "pregnant with possibilities" kasi... That wallpaper is so effective! :)

Thanks, guys. I never had to crop anything in the image. I just stretched it to fit, and that's how it looks like right away. I moved the Adium window there after setting the desktop image, and when I tried quitting Adium and then launching it again to see where the window would open, it opened right at that same spot. Adium is so cute!

Indeed, I like sleek and chic desktops. It masks the mess of files and folders that is underneath and which can only be viewed in all its chaotic glory when I open a Finder window.
