In any case, Picasa just updated their web uploader for Mac. Here's an article discussing it, and here's the download link... It's now at version 1.2 by the way...

i don't really like iphoto because of the duplication they make on my images.

does picasa do the same? I know for a fact that in windows Picasa creates hidden duplicate original file. Does it still do the same in Mac?

picasa does not automatically create duplicates of your images and "respects" your filing system -- one reason why some prefer it over iphoto. tinkered with the picasa for mac beta last night, and i got hooked! for one, it's noticeably speedier than iphoto.

i installed picasa on my mac but it can't seem to port sub folders.
    crummy.

perhaps it'll be better when it's out of beta.

When you import photos from iPhoto, do i duplicate my photo files in a PIcasa photo folder? If yes, is it worth ditching iPhoto for Picasa and erase all the pics in iPhoto? :O

I forgot to copy the ones on the release notes, I just copied this one from the google support site.

now it auto searches my computer for pictures. great!
my follow up concern is, if i edit pictures in picasa for mac, would it behave the same in windows system, where it creates an Originals folder containing a duplicate of the edited picture? i hate that when it happens.

I'm trying the app now but can't seem to figure it out if it's creating duplicates or not. mac geniuses, please come to the rescue?

I installed the picasa but did some deletion of my picture folders from picasa. i ended up with the problem of not being able to import pictures no matter what i do. I tried downloading the application again but to no avail. it's a good thing i came upon ginomatic's post re rebuilding the database :)

chetiboy, from what i read, i think picasa creates small files containing the edit instructions re the original pictures. I don't know for sure though.

please note that it does not accept files or folders with the character "/". Most of my folders and files had the backslash which i used in the date format.
