I was in Palawan for a month for an elective this past May, and here are some spots to see:

    Puerto Princesa:
    Honda Bay
    Sabang Beach/Underground River/Mangrove Forest
    Crocodile Farm
    Baker's Hill/Mitra Ranch

For nice places to eat at:
Haim Chicken Inato (great food, cheap, too)
Ka Lui (it's always highly recommended, but I found it bland and expensive)
    Balinsasayaw Grill (good grilled seafood/meat)
    McCoy's (pizza and pasta)

was there just last weekend with my family. stayed as usual at hotel fleuris--nice, clean hotel close to everything downtown. good food at the restaurant, and they can arrange all the tours you need for you. reasonable rates, very courteous staff.

Asturias Hotel is also a good place to stay in. It has a garden setting, so all rooms face the garden. Very comfotable!

Puerto Princesa has a standardized tour rate so most if not all tour prices are the same, regardless of operator. The hotel can help you in that. Must-see places are Honda Bay for swimming and snorkelling and Underground River, which is around 2 hours away from the city but worth it.

For a true Palawan experience, go to Kinabuch restauraurant and order the tamilok.

thanks for the tips so far guys. asturias and fleuris look good!

i've contacted Legend Hotel so far and their rates are pretty good considering it's inclusive of tours (city, honda bay and underground river) as well as buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner for 3 days. any personal feedback on this?

you might want to check out some pics from our recent puerto princesa trip here:

i haven't stayed at the legend although i've been inside it, and it looks good.

i'd suggest, though, that you get the free breakfast, but keep your options for lunch and dinner open, because that's part of the palawan experience. the food around town is great--try badjao seafront restaurant (a short tricycle ride), ka lui, kinabuch, balinsasayaw, etc. the underground river and honda bay tours are also whole-day affairs, and lunch (a very good one) is already part of the package.

do rent out shoes and snorkels for the honda bay tour (you can get them just before you board the boat at the dock)--you'll be sorry if you don't, since the fish and corals are really spectacular.

For tour package, you may contact this:

    http://www.seablitztravelntours.multiply.com/

They arranged our tour for 3d/2n with accomodations already. Very nice tour guides and price is relatively cheap as well, especially when you're in a group. It would be better if you'll have 4d/3n stay. Usual tours include city tour, honda bay island hopping tour and underground river tour. We just added Dos Palmas day tour on our itinerary to make a little difference. :)

I highly recommend Hotel Fleuris - we stayed there for our December 2009 trip and it was a joy. They have helpful staff and as Sir Butch said, close to everything downtown. Very useful for last second souvenir shopping - for the relative or friend you forgot 'til the last minute.

Tried the must eat restaurants, I ranked them based on our food experience as:

    Balinsasayaw Grill
    Kinabuch
Ka Lui - dont forget to book your reservation. The hotel staff can do this for you

    For the trips

Snake Island - would have stayed here for the whole day
    Honda Bay
    Underground River/Mangrove Forest
Pandan Island - Had lunch here. The kid who sold us fresh coconuts told us the price - "P10 kung local, P20 sa turista" :)
    Mitra Ranch - the view!
    Crocodile Farm
    City tour

Planning to go back there, such a nice place and very friendly people.

    Enjoy!

    ^^

check in at club paradise resort .. the resort is just ok cannot be compared to shangrila mactan resorts or amanpulo but one thing great about this hotel is the distance of this resort to calauit island.. for those not familiar with calauit ,it is an island preserve during the time of marcos where in there are roaming giraffe , zebra and other species in their natural habitat .. it is like a zoo without the cage. i recommend this to everyone because of the experience that's like you are in africa even if you're not;)

    @Sam789,

The packages of Coron Gateway Hotel are pretty enticing! Thanks for the suggestion!

    @ellehcar,
Wow! Now that's a place for a good vacay! Kinda pricey though at $230 per person. Is it true that you have to stay there for a minimum number of days, supposedly 5? But I really like the "safari" like atmosphere, hehe!

^ Went to Coron last May, and stayed at Princess of Coron Lodge Austrian Resort.
Where Marian and Dingdong stayed when they shot Dyesebel.
Pretty nice place, nice accommodating staff.
Near bars, restaurants, and souvenir shops.

    Must see places:
Caluit Island Game Preserve and Wildlife Sanctuary
    Kayangan Lake (Set of Dyesebel)
    Banol Beach
    Calumboyan Island
    Creepy ship wrecks
And lots of amazing snorkeling areas.

    Places to eat:
    Kawayanan Grill and Restaurant
    La Sirenetta Restaurant

no its not true .. you can stay there for 2 nights , i don't know if it is the minimum number of days that you can stay at the resort though ..
if you want a cheaper alternative
you can stay at the above mentioned hotel but it takes a longer time to travel from this hotel to calauit island .. hope this helps :D
