Let's get this new thread started!!
What do you love most about the upcoming OS X Yosemite?
i like the ability to make and take phone calls from within with os x - or is that an ios8 feature
I love the fact that you could SMS and do voice calls (not Facetime Audio) through your Mac & iPad now. Although I wonder if this is done via Bluetooth, Airdrop or within a wireless local area network.
Would it be possible to leave your iPhone in the Philippines and receive and make SMS and voice calls in say Singapore?
But where is native NTFS write support?
I just hope they fix the wifi issue with the new Haswell Macbooks. It takes forever to connect to saved wifi networks and most of the time it cannot detect the wifi networks until I Turn Wifi Off then turn it back on.
Continuity is actually a feature of iOS 8. You'll need to be in the same Wi-Fi network for this to work.
Have this same issue, my fix is to keep bluetooth off, then wifi works normally. They really need to fix this though.
And I thought they fixed this in mavericks
Problem is that I use a magic mouse so turning off Bluetooth isn't an option.
This is happening on my late 2013 iMac. What I did is I manually assigned an IP address and input manually all the wifi credentials and it working fine now. In auto detect it doesn't work. This is also happening on a macpro in our office.
The new GUI is very easy to the eyes, I love the dark mode -- and having normal sms sync with Messages, as well as be able to answer your call in your mac much like Viber Desktop is very much welcomed.
I would like to correct this statement. No, its actually a feature of both OSX Yosemite and iOS 8. It works both ways, from OSX -> iOS and iOS -> OSX.
It says in your link "With iOS 8 and OS X Yosemite".
That seems like a Yosemite + iOS8 feature (so Mavericks + iOS8 and Yosemite + iOS7 won't work)
It may be weird, but I'm excited about dark mode.
But really, one of the things I'm most happy about is the upgraded Airdrop feature between iOS and OSX, finally they can share files. That makes my work a lot easier.
No, you're right it'll work for both iOS 8 and OS X Yosemite.
I just meant Continuity is a feature highlighted in iOS 8. The feature highlighted in OS X Yosemite is called Handoff.
We're actually taking of the same thing.
will it run old programs like iDVD?
I like Markup and Continuity.
I like Markup. And it's free, bundled with the Mac markup you paid.
I like Continuity. What you start in the sofa, you can finish in the bedroom.
i signed up for beta use lol
i have loved the price of the new OSX releases.
i remember being SHOCKED at the actual prices of "non pirated" windows OS was at computer stores back in the day!
but the recent stuff from apple? $20 lang? its a no brainer to upgrade.
So I just installed the first developer preview of Yosemite on my Mac (2012 rMBP) and the Dark Mode is not yet implemented. (BOOO)
On the other hand, the Finder icon just got extra happy. [And yes, that is a bug on Chrome's title(bar)]
I am going to love Continuity, updated AirDrop and update Group Threads
With updated Group Thread Messaging - it simply doesn't make sense to use other Messaging apps anymore when all the people you talk to have iOS/OSX devices
With the free OS X upgrades and free iWorks, it simply doesn't make any sense buying a cheaper $600+ Windows Ultrabook and pay for $200 Windows Upgrades, $300 Office apps and $50/yr Anti-Virus subscriptions when you can buy a $999 similarly speced MacBook Air
