Anyone who have used this Office Suite collection? i've used the Windows version.

    Here's what I can say

    Pros
    1. Open and Save MS Office equivalent documents/spreadsheets
    2. UI looks like MS Office
    3. It is licensed under GNU. Guilt-free usage.

    Cons
    1. I believe the app is java-based. It can be quite slow
    2. MS Word documents might be formatted differently.
    3. Some features lagging behind MS Office (not really a big issue for me)

the best thing about it is that its FREE:rolleyes:

the only thing that troubles me is the slow loading process, you still need to run x11:slanted:

    1. Why pay for something you can get for FREE?

    2. I believe there is a newer version of Open Office for the Mac and does not require the X11 no more.

    3. If you're on MAC, try getting the NeoOFFICE instead. Its frequently updated with Patches and Updates to fix problems or bugs and doesn't require X11 also. Its also FREE!!!

    Check it out here: http://www.neooffice.org/neojava/en/index.php

I believe so, I used to have NEO Office before I bought iWork '08. I was able to work on my XLS files without a hitch.

hi ken, are you referring to .xlsx or .docx extensions?

i haven't downloaded this, but i am very well considering this as replacement for MS Office

I think NEO Office opens those as well. NEO Office should be compatible with most major document and spreadsheet file extensions.
