on .avi files

    magandang tanghali sa lahat...

    unang "post" ko pa lang ito sa philmug, pero matagal tagal na rin akong natututo sa mga diskurso na nagaganap dito. may tanong lang po...

    may ilang mga .avi files ako na sinusubukang panoorin sa Quicktime. yung iba napatakbo ko na nang maayos dahil sa DivX pero may isa pa na hindi masolusyonan, may kulang pa daw na codec. may pamamaraan ba para malaman kung anong codec ang kulang? kapag binubuksan ko itong file na ito, kadalasang bumubukas din ang apple site na may iba ibang "support programs" (yun kaya ang tawag dun?), pero hindi ko alam kung ano sa mga nakalista ang kailangan.

    with the movie (.avi) file open in quicktime, press command+i... you should find useful information on what was used to encode the video/audio... or... you can just download vlc. also try searching for previous posts on 'codec' or 'avi' problems, using philmug search.

    at pasensiya na rin. nag-"search" ako at mukhang napagusapan na nga yung tinanong ko.

    Not the easiest to use of Mac Apps but it works, most of the time, ffmpegX. There is also DiVA by 3ivx, works ok if it doesnt crash on you. When I'm particularly lazy, I just drag the avi file into Toast to make a SVCD or VCD (you don't have to burn it), after Toast has encoded the file i just grab the resulting mpeg off the 'Roxio Converted Items' folder.
