Apple just introduced a New iPad Mini.
^With the old Start button...
Hmm. That’s it? Been waiting for 4 years and they’re giving us this crap. Apple is getting lazy these days.
They should've just overblown the XS Max (sans phone) and called it the new iPad Mini. Now that would've gotten everyone drooling.
iPad Mini 4 is probably my best Apple purchase.
Bought it from Day 1 and it was the "recent model" for more than 3 years
Apple back in the "lets recycle these old components people will still buy it" mentality hehe... but for consumers i guess the more choices the better, i just wished apple would have their accesories, at least like the apple pencil 2, backwards compatible... as it is if u have the pencil 2 on your current gen pro, you again have to buy the first gen pencil if you will get the "new" mini and air
I've been using my iPad Mini 4 for around 3 years now. It can still handle everyday tasks but I can see it showing its age. For my usage its primarily a replacement for my iPhone when I get home.
I don't use my iPad for taking pictures or photo editing, I use it mainly for multimedia and social media... so for me the A12 is a welcome upgrade. Give me a nice screen and a faster processor and I'm a happy camper.
Mm...it is a refresh aimed at Apple users looking for entry-level iPads (mini tablets). Accomodates budget-minded customers.
So it's basically just getting a processor upgrade? Meh.
I also love my iPad Mini.
4-gen processor jump + pencil support as well as faster BT and Wifi Modules oh yeah, True Tone as well. Same price.
After 4 years, they give us a refresh. nearly the same specs, improved camera? who uses tablets to shoot photos/ videos . True tone in my opinion is just a gimmick. That Apple Pencil compatibility? yeah it only works on the previous gen Apple pencil. I do agree with you that it's targetted at budget-minded customers.
Plus 50% more RAM (3GB). The new front-facing camera will enable much better video calls. At the same price, it's a solid upgrade.
Though we have yet to see PH pricing. I remember the iPad 6th gen (2018) getting a price increase in PH even though the US pricing remained the same.
FYI. You can now see the official price in the Apple Ph Store.
Price increase for us is attributed to the weakening of PHP.
Hmm. As much as I hate this product, I'll probably end up buying this. My 2015 iPad Mini is getting as little slower. There's just no alternative for a tablet this size.
There's no alternative tablet... period!
This is Google/Android/Samsung's fault.
Apple can get away with this (2019 iPad Air/Mini) as we don't have a choice, there's no alternative in the market.
Mm...well...there’s the alternative: the iPad Pros.
I really wish they used the latest iPad PRO form factor with this iPad mini update.
Then it would have been a no-brainer purchase.
I guess they’re testing the waters if there is still a market for the mini.
Reviews are here.
when i bought the first iPad Pro, i wanted to use it for presentations, demos, etc. but my MBP, which i needed for third-party video effects plug-ins, rendered the iPad Pro redundant/unnecessary. and it's too big for other needs—bedtime reading, note-taking, portable use, etc. this iPad mini might be a suitable compromise; performance upgrade from my first gen iPad Pro, but in a more convenient size.
not having the latest/greatest doesn't bother me. any crook can buy the latest, but what have they done with it, aside from brag about having the latest and greatest specs? i just spent $8000 to patent six products/designs that i invented, 3D CAD drawn on a 4-year-old, first-gen iPad Pro and apple pencil.
