Check out this new service from Globe G-Cash:

It gives us a virtual American Express card with a US address and according to their website, it will work with the US iTunes Store. This will mean we won't have to look for those hard to find iTunes GCs?

I have yet to try it since I'm currently stuck to "We are processing your GCash American Express Virtual Card application, but this sounds promising.

Pro tip... I now buy my iTunes credits on eBay. Just search for someone who offers it at face value and with a buy it now option. Pay via paypal and you're protected from scams as well. They'll send you the code via email.

    Did this successfully 3x already.

On the opposite side of the experience of the prepaid subscriber that rbenson linked to, I'm a postpaid subscriber and have also already tried the process of applying for the free 1-month trial. And I was asked to go to a Globe business center for a KYC.

I'm a postpaid subscriber as well. They asked me to verify my account by calling 2882. After a few questions, they verified it and asked me to try registering again via the website after 24 hours. Let's see how this goes tomorrow.

Done. Got my details from globe through email in less than 15 minutes.

Looks nice. Question is, what's the catch with "1 month free trial"?

UPDATE: There is a subscription fee of 250 pesos per year. Also, to make the transaction faster and get your details immediately, register with GCASH first then try registering for the AMEX card after 24 hours.

Just got mine. However my understanding is that you have to physically go to an authorized "reloader" to add cash or fund your gcash account.

Is it possible to link this to bpiexpressonline? That way it will just be a matter of transfering funds from my checking account to gcash account online.

^from the GCASH AMEX website there is a link to load your GCASH account from your bank account. I forgot the list of banks they support though

It'll be my first time to try gcash. I just got my AmEx virtual card yesterday a few minutes after registration. I'll try this later once I put some credits in my gcash wallet.

Edit: I was able to load my gcash wallet and placed my card details in my iTunes PH account. After that I received a text message saying, "you have successfully paid 42.51 via GCASH American Express Virtual Card." Is this some sort of activation fee or what?

Will there be a 10% service fee per transaction just like the regular GCash transactions?

Whih one is better? The GCash AmEx or SmartMoney MC?

I just found out that when you put and save your amex card payment info in your iTunes account, you are charged around $1.00. I removed my amex info from my iTunes account then tried to save it again but it wasn't accepted and deemed invalid. I then received a text message informing me that my transaction with my amex card cannot be completed because of insufficient funds. That's a turn-off for me. I just tried it anyway..

The 1US$ charge is an authorisation hold. This is done by iTunes to "verify" your card details. Much like Paypal or other services charge you 1US$ when you add your credit card details. There is actually a thread in the Apple Support Community about this 1US$ charge.

    Here is the link: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/1612027?start=0&tstart=0

There is a Flat Rate Transaction fee depending on the amount.

Here is the link for the GCASH FAQ's from Globe: Help and Support GCash FAQs - globe.com.ph
