Unless you specifically need more then 8 cores.
I personally think the 2019 is the smarter and more practical purchase.

Just a quick update of the status of my iMac. It seems its stuck in Hong Kong for a while now. The website promises me that it will be delivered on Sept 16 however so I guess it is still on schedule.

can't say but I'm following a rider from a foreign counterpart. It's a requirement for the job. :)

I can't seem to find an option for it on the website. So like what Yoh suggested, I had it sent to my office.

Some good news, the package is now in the Philippines. However, it is probably in customs waiting for clearance

Some good news friends. My iMacs have arrived earlier then anticipated. The initial estimate was Sept 16 but it came six days earlier. Very satisfied and happy with the delivery experience.

Yes. The other one is for a friend who asked me to buy for him. He got the base 6 core model.

Why didn’t you purchase the base unit at local resellers? Its usually cheaper.

Although everything was base, my friend customized his iMac with a 1tb SSD. When its BTO usually the prices of the local resellers and the online store are usually the same. Also, local resellers are slower to deliver usually quoting me 1 month wait time so that's that.

On standard configurations, yes it is possible to get cheaper deals through local resellers.

I can confirm this. Tried to order BTO through a local official reseller and noticed their prices are the same with the Philippine Apple store.
