The Old Guard 8/10 Charlize Theron is badass. Reminds me more Highlander than John Wick. Looking forward to the sequel, who knows it might end becoming a series. Not sure if Andy is based on the Greek Mythology character Andromache, wife of Hector in The Iliad. In the Fall of Troy I believe she either died or became a slave to the Greeks.

Just thinking about being stuck in an iron coffin, drowned to death, come alive and drown again over and over sends shivers down my spine

And for 300 years, that’s a real bitchy. Must’ve worn off that iron from all the salt water that *spoiler alert*. Nah, watch it ;)

Charlize Theron is perfect for the role because she seems to be actually immortal. She still looks very beautiful, I dare say even more beautiful than she did in the 90s. I wonder if they're still going to do that Furiosa spin off.

I was so enamored with Charlize, I rewatched The Devil's Advocate. She was hot there, but even hotter now.

I've read somewhere they were gonna go with someone younger since the movie would be a pre-quel (?). According to the filmmaker, digitally enhancing faces to make them look younger aren't there yet technologically.

Interesting you brought up The Devil's Advocate. I remember that movie and, yes, she was hot in there. But she played a typical woman co-starring role. Boy, she's come a long way.

I also enjoyed The Old Guard for the most part.I just didn't like the whole big pharma schtick. And I think there would have been plenty more actors who played the sinister CEO role better.

^She’s the reason for sleepless nights when I was a young cadet. Sadly her poster got nicked by someone in the Academy who ended up being the Chief PNP

Then while browsing YouTube I found this one and it got me hooked on The Umbrella Academy (y) I really think Ellen Page aka Vanya killed it with that thoroughly awkward but enigmatic dance. Diego comes in second.

And by the way, Tiffany was everyone’s sweetheart before Britney came. Period.

Well he's been great at playing a prick before. Dudley Dursley, Harry Potter's evil pinsan.

I agree the role wasn't well thought out. The actor wasn't given much to work with, but I think Harry Melling was channeling Pharma Bro, Martin Shkreli.

^Right on the outset, we deeply hated Melling already and his smirk.

I've been meaning to watch this! How is this, btw, story-wise? (Not that that's crucial, 'no?)

Don't forget, Charlize also stood out in "The Italian Job" and "Aeon Flux", among many other notable "action" films.

It’s John Wick as a female fatale. It’s terrific, the plot is great, the action awesome, the music so dancey to the 90’s. What is there not to like about Atomic Blonde? Charlize kicked more asses here than as Furiosa in Mad Max Fury Road. And that long one take sequence that is truly exhilarating. Damn! Going to watch it again.
