is it possible for me to sync both an iPhone and an iPod using my iTunes (on my mac) - or is the iTunes limited only to one 'unit' (either an iPhone or iPod)? i've got both- and I'd rather have both my iPhone & my Ipod have the same music, same data, etc etc. ideally- both should be synced so whatever changes I make on iTunes are also made on both. thanks in advance. btw- i did the search, but there wasn't any topic/thread that would've answered the question.
yup one computer can handle all the ipods you want. its the ipods that need to be synced only by one computer.
mmm.......I think only 5 devices are allowed per itunes account. You can always deauthorize obsolete devices and authorize new ones. The problem is when you deauthorize, you deauthorize all the devices. So, in your case, your macbook itunes library can be synched with up to 5 devices. So the answer is yes you can synch your ipod and iphone with your macbook itunes library, plus 3 more devices.
ok- how exactly can this be done- any step by step procedure? thanks. btw- my iPod is the 'old 30g Ipod Video', and my iPhone is 1g at 114.
Yes it's very possible... You can sync all you iPods and all kinds of iPods and your iPhone/s. Applications bought in iTunes Store can be synced up to five iPod Touches or iPhones.. Not sure about other stuff in iTunes - like podcasts, music and movies - if they can be synced up to five times only or more.. But, if I remember it correctly, you can only sync one at a time,,, meaning your iPods and iPhones have to fall in line There maybe no related threads or topics because like me, I tried it first and nothing went wrong. Not only you can use multiple iPods and iPhone in one iTunes, you can also do vice versa: you can also plug your iPod on different Macs and PCs with iTunes and play your music or videos. But once you sync them to different Mac or PC, the current content of your iPod or iPhone will be replaced by the content of the particular Mac or PC.
just connect your ipod or iphone to your macbook and let itunes take care of the rest. The itunes library in your ipod or iphone will be erased and the contents of your macbook itunes library will be transfered to your ipod or iphone. Everytime you reconnect, new contents are synced on your macbook, ipod and iphone.
@philpangan.....can I just call you Phil!? ahh....in the case of purchased music or movies, once you download it, you can sync it with only one device. I purchased some movies from iTunes through Apple TV and when I opened the sync device (in my case, my peecee rig), the contents of the ATV is synched with the itunes library of my peecee although I can still stream content to my ATV with my MBA. Can't transfer it again. I tried it but it did not work (or maybe I made a mistake somewhere). I understand what Apple is trying to accomplish with these limitations: upholding DRM.
reply to OT: Phil, or Pil, or Philippe will do. Hehe Anyway, so you have two iTunes store accounts? One in Philippines and another in US? Do all applications sync with your iPhone? About syncing purchased music, I have just tried it, and it worked to my iPod Nano and iPhone..
@phil. Yeah I have both PH and U.S. itunes but I have yet to use my PH account. Been too busy downloading movies from itunes U.S. and with my oh so slow smartbro connection, I haven't found the time to peruse itunes PH or itunes U.S. for Apps so I couldn't answer your question. But if you sync purchased music, I see no reason why apps would be an exception.
