I was at Yangon for a 3 day business trip...

No idea if anyone here is planning to go there for a vacation... But just in case anyone decides to book a trip... Maybe this post will help :)

First (true) mall will open in March 2017 (as per billboards in Yangon)
Taxis don't have meters! You negotiate the price before riding! (no aircon, but they're "all power", automatic with reverse camera!) - my personal theory is that most cars are surplus from Thailand and Japan.
Hotels and souvenir shops will accept USD!
    Jade is inexpensive.

Cars are right hand drive... But they drive on the right side of the road too!

My local guide told me new cars are now required to be left hand drive. And that there are new laws coming that will require taxis to have meters.

Food... Be prepared to eat local (think Indian meets Thai cuisine)

I stayed at Summit Parkview Hotel... Jogging distance from thew Shwedagon Pagoda...

There are also nearby Japanese/Indian/Chinese/Mediterranean food near the hotel. (ask if their credit card machine is working before you enter :) )

Bring wet wipes when visiting Shwedagon Pagoda... No shoes allowed so you'll walk barefoot!

Some familiar restaurants/fast food I saw during my visit...

    Pastamania (1)
    Pizzahut (1)
KFC (2, at the airport and near the "mall")
Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf (2, both at the airport)

Lastly... Internet is really slow... Max speed I got was 2mbps (hotel) and 1mbps (office)
