Is there a reason why my iCal icon on the dock says Jul17? But when I open iCal it reverts to today's date. Is there something about this date that makes it so significant or is my iCal busted?:uh-oh:

hi there, iCal's default "display" date on the dock is really July 17. iCal will display the current date when you open the app, but until you do so, it really is set to display that date. so, don't worry about that. ;)

iCal was introduced on July 17, 2002 hence the default date. It's a permanent reminder of it's birthday. :) Clever actually.

In System pref go to Accounts>your account>Login items>add iCal. Everytime you login you'll have the right date.

    hi

what it does is it justs auto logs in the ical application. you can also do that to other apps if you want it to run it at log in.

when you close the app, it still reverts to the old date.

but the tip is very informative, i havent thought of that.

    thanks for the help.

I think the reported iPod Picano will be released. Smaller than the nano!

It's because iCal was introduced on that date, in 2002 :)

EDIT: Hahahaha! That was fast, Dave beat me to it as I was composing my reply ;)

    Re: july 17???

Is there a way for iCal to reflect the present date without clicking(opening) it?

    Re: july 17???

have the iCal as one of the login items... System Preferences>Accounts>Login Items... this will make iCal run in the background and the calendar icon reflect the present date...
