The iPhone isn't the only phone or Mobile OS that's generating a lot of buzz these days.

Google's Android OS has been touted as being one of the most hotly anticipated M-OS (mobile os) systems in the gadget world today. With it's own App Store (Android Market), Google Android is poised to take on Apple and their Appstore with much gusto.

Every phone from the venerable G1/HTC Dream, HTC Magic, HTC Hero and wildly popular Motorola Droid as well as the hotly anticipated Sony Ericsson Xperia X10. Share your Android experience here.

I personally have been using Android (HTC Hero) for only a week, and my initial impressions are extremely good, and have no problems recommending it to people who want give it a try, of course HTC's Sense UI puts icing on top of... the cupcake (Android 1.5). My only complaint is the sluggish camera. Other than that, the from integrated Gmail and the native twitter app, I'll surely keep this phone for a very, very long time!

    What's your Android?

As long as you know the APN for Sun, you can, connectivity is really easy once you know all the settings.

HSDPA Speeds are consistent and I've only dropped signals very few times.

LOL! Thanks! I'm sure others will follow, it's such a wonderful system almost as easy as the iPhone OS

The Android OS has an App Store of sorts, right, Ken? Have you tried the available apps? How's their App Store?

Oh, cheers on your new toy!

Yup, it's called the Android Market, it's available on anything that runs Android (even netbooks). App selection is good, haven't had the chance to try out the paid apps yet since all I seem to get on my Android Market are the free apps.

Thanks! I'll be at the party on the 5th to show her off.. hehe

Have to admit, the Android OS is really interesting. Have you guys seen BoyGenius' video walkthrough? Man, this is the perfect phone if you're heavily hooked up with Google--and its quest for domination.

Hi I bought the white HTC Hero in HK last Nov 15.

I got it for about P23,000.

Anyway, my Android HTC Hero REALLY blows away my iPhone 3GS in terms of 24/7 online connectivity. I mean, the apps work in background mode etc. Although it could drain the battery so much.

And it really consumes heavy data. I recommend getting the unlimited mobile internet plan for this.

@ rtsport - Haha! Didn't know you were on the Android Boat as well! Looks like it's cheaper in HK. Oh well, I was just happy tot get mine!

My Globe plan has the added mobile surfing package, 10hrs for 150Php a month, so far so good, I just learned to use WiFi when available and sporadically turn on Mobile Internet on my phone, it's proven useful so far, agreed with the battery especially on HSDPA, the phone gets a bit hot.

Oh and only the White Heroes have Teflon coating on the rear cover. ;)

I use CaardioTrainer for when I go out and ride, it works so much better than Sports Tracker on Nokia!

there are no paid apps in the Android store unless you're in the US afaik.

I gave my wife the Magic when it first came out. Was interesting but i'd rather stick to the iphone. Lot of crap apps on the android app store. if only they allowed purchasing paid apps then i'd consider using an android phone.

Paid apps available only from the following countries:

    Australia
    Austria
    France
    Germany
    Italy
    Japan
    Netherlands
    New Zealand
    Spain
    Switzerland
    United Kingdom
    United States

BUT some developers like Docs to Go finally have allowed direct purchase from their site...

Using an HTC Tattoo, very small and convenient, unfortunately the apps available for it are very limited due to v1.6 and new screen resolution.
