I've grown very familiar with MS Paint and I'm now looking for a Mac counterpart of this app, whether freeware or otherwise.

    Any suggestions? Thanks.

Is there a way that I can just install that Appleworks paint app without installing the entire suite?

Graphic Converter. Its shareware. Its more powerful than MS Paint in that it can save and convert to almost any format. But the drawing capabilities are somewhat the same.

I wonder whatever happened to kid pix... It was the app I used most during the OS 8 and 9 days. It was very similar to MS Paint.

Thanks for the tip. ArtRage simulates a paint canvas very well.

However, what I'm looking for is a simple Mac app (not Photoshop) that allows you to manipulate and alter existing images like MS Paint.

gimpshop is an overhaul of the typical gimp interface to more closely mimic photoshop. otherwise, its the same thing.
