have you tried opening your documents from within MS Office Apps? Launch Word/Excel/Powerpoint as appropriate. File>Open Tell us what happens.
Had some similar trouble with MS office before too. try and delete the user data and prefs and then try running MS Office again so it'll build new ones. Also try updating quicktime.
hi kenneth, still no luck. i found this though: "I did call into Microsoft Technical Support for Mac and they informed me that there is a issue with the Office applications not launching just bouncing on the dock and then disappearing. They did inform me that it has to do with the latest Mac OS update which installs Quicktime 7.2 which is breaking Rosetta CFM applications on Intel based Macs. This would include Microsoft Office, older versions of Photoshop (including CS2), and many, many others. There is a Apple combo update located here www.apple.com/support/downloads/macosx10410comboupdatev11intel.html - after downloading this and restarting the Mac OS, I am able to open my Office applications and other programs as well." form http://groups.google.com/group/micr...92b8c0772d7/1e7eafc418a3efa6#1e7eafc418a3efa6 as far as i remember, the last update i did was quicktime 7.2 and itunes 7.3.1 on 10.4.10. after that, MS office won't run. so, better stay away from these updates. i'm currently downloading the combo update from apple. hope this fixes the bug.
This is what happened to you: http://www.macfixit.com/article.php?story=20070713094450677 I read this from my daily MacFixit RSS feed that's why I did not take the plunge when Apple announced the iTunes/QT 7.2 update. Next time, don't rush headlong and install updates just because your Software Update alerts you of new versions. I've been warning 'muggers of the crummy updates Apple has been issuing these past two months - so many problems, instead of solutions. Apple technical people have been herded into working for the iPhone launch and that's why the other facets of their technology seem to be slipping.
From what I understand, you use a Combo update if you skipped an update or several updates. For example, if you have Tiger version 10.4.7 and skipped 10.4.8 and 10.4.9, you can use the 10.4.10 combo update to upgrade directly from 10.4.7 to 10.4.10. Basically combo updates (for 10.4.10) contain all of the updates/fixes from (10.4.1 to 10.4.10). The non-combo updates allow you to upgrade from the one version to another only (e.g. 10.4.9 to 10.4.10).
i just did a fresh install of ms ofc. i had some errors during my first run. after 3 updates it worked. i just used the default ms auto update thing
To those who might encounter this bug just follow the following steps: Download the 10.4.10 combo update for your computer Reboot/login using Safe Mode Run Repair Permissions Install the OS Combo Updater Reboot source: http://blog.entourage.mvps.org/2007/07/itunes_731_and_quicktime_72_up.html the culprit: quicktime 7.2 and itunes 7.3.1 more info here.
I'm running 10.4.10, did the Quicktime and iTunes updates and haven't encountered a problem in launching MS office. Just lucky, I guess.
i think it's not just luck. statistically, those who have updated without any problems still outnumber those who have had problems. like you, i installed the recent software updates with zero issues. in fact, since the jaguar days, i have always downloaded and installed every single update and i have yet to complain of glitches and problems related to it.
Have you tried opening AVI files using Quicktime after updating to 7.2? A lot of users reported extremely slow loading of AVI files using Quicktime 7.2
