Just wondering.. the student-teacher MS office 2004 that I am using right now was bought for (i think) $100 at CompUSA, discounted since it was bought along w/ an iBook... It was boxed and sealed when I got it. how does the ONE PRODUCT KEY found at the back of the manual differ from the 3 LICENSES that are supposed to come with it? We weren't given a piece of paper w/ licenses.. totally clueless.. just wondering...:slanted:
oh well, its true. guess ill just be getting the freewares... the reg code isnt worth it. or whatever
If it has three product keys and there are either three license documents or a license document that states that you have three licenses, you can install it on three computers. One license = one computer.
last inquiry: looking closely on the dvd case, it says "offers: RIGHTS TO INSTALL ON THREE COMPUTERS IN YOUR HOUSEHOLD".. but the pack only included ONE PRODUCT KEY, pasted on the manual.. (no papers/documents were included when bought).. do I use the same product key to register all three installs?
From the box: "To license ..., you must be a Qualified Educational User or the parent or guardian of a Qualified Educational User. "Qualified Educational Users include: 1) Full or part time students 2) Home schooled students 3) Full or part-time faculty or staff of an accredited educational institution." Aside from being the actual student (or teacher/staff of accredited schools), that means if you're the parent/guardian of studying children, you may also get it for your family. For the Windows version, this qualification is expanded not just to parents but to any member of a household with Qualified Users. I clarified this with several stores in Singapore before buying and asked if I needed to present any proof of eligibility. They all said no need, as long as it's a personal purchase for personal use. With the mac version (at least the one I got), there are actually three different product keys, but no need to activate. With the win version, there is only 1 key, but you need to activate (ala winXP) each installation (so MS will be able to check that only 3 installations are allowed).
i was actually talking to someone in ynzal about this just last week. the reason why u only get the burned cd and the license is that microsoft allowed them to split the original box with 3 licenses so it will be affordable to students. so ganun talaga.. if u want the nice box and everything look for 2 more people to buy the rest of the licenses
There you go. If it has the blessings of Microsoft itself, then it should be alright. (I think we can take Ynzal's word for it, since it doesn't make sense for them to risk gaining the ire of MS etc. just for a sale). If you think about it, It makes some sense for MS to be a little lenient (although unofficially, since I don't think they would put this on paper), if the greater objective and good for them is to stem and reduce piracy. It's still money in their pockets rarther than P150 or P200 in somebody else's hands.
In this country, you can buy a stick from a pack of cigarettes, a Palm stylus from a 3-pack, an iPod sock from a pack of 6, and a single license of Microsoft's Office 2004 Student Teacher Edition. We truly live in a tingi country.
Not exactly, in a way of some sort, it is being practiced in Singapore as well. When you buy an MB or MBP, you get a single OEM-type license together with a 1G ram upgrade or SGD300 cash voucher as a bundled promo. I think it is allowed by Microsoft for the retailer to sell the single license and provide the buyer with the CD copy of the installer.
that's weird. i bought the student teacher edition a year ago for my imac and they gave me the tranparent casing. it came along with three licenses pa. so i was able to install it afte sometime to my powerbook also. check ut the one in greenbelt 1 that's where i got it. otherwise try senco technologies.
Now, I see the difference.. this is the "BOX" that macychic is looking for, right? (below, from amazon) well, what I have is (below) a dvd case (from CompUSA, with ONE product key only, althou it does say 3 installs in the cover.. inside: 1 cd and manual): So I guess there's "tingi" in the US, too.
ang yabang mo huh! haha! not that i want the box only. i want to buy an MS Office with that box. at least kahit papano, reasonable enough when i tell my mom that i spent 4thou for a software. Un man lang may evidence na orig ung software ko ü haha
