MP4s not playing right (in XP)

    I can't figure out why my brother's xp machine can't play mp4 videos?

    iTunes ganyan din magplay ng mp4 videos. how can i fix this? i installed the latest quicktime / itunes on his xp machine.

    it's been like this daw eversince. kaka reformat lang ng xp machine niya and same parin ung problem. huhu

    any help would be much appreciated :)

    If you only need to play mp4 files, just download VLC Media Player: it plays almost all kinds of media.

    weird thing is when i played videos i "stitched together" using VisualHub, the audio goes out on VLC player. all these problems in XP though, everything's fine on my macs

    try downloading XPcodec pack..

    if it's no video but audio plays right, its more often than not a codec problem. and yeah, makoy32000's suggestion should work out alright if he just needs it for mp4's or avi's with the divx codec.

    but if you want to play it natively on like itunes (not sure?) or WMP, i suggest dloading a codec pack like k-lite codec pack from free-codecs.com.

    Yup; that is a missing codec issue. search for k-lite mega codec pack (I use this one) and install it. All codecs are shared by every multimedia player in windows so itunes should be able to play mp4 afterwards. :)
