its BJ Penn vs Sean Sherk... go BJ!!!! Go BJJ!!!!

Nice fightcard... May 24... May 25 here for sky cable subscribers

Not sure if you guys know about WEC their fighters are mostly lightweight fighters.. pretty exciting to watch. Cant wait for this one too

June 1 – Urijah Faber (20-1) vs. Jens Pulver (22-8-1): The WEC featherweight title match in Sacramento’s Arco Arena is both the biggest fight in WEC history and the biggest featherweight fight ever in the U.S. The division, largely put on the map by Faber in the last year plus, sees the champ, one of the top pound-for-pound fighters in the world, facing UFC’s first-ever lightweight champion. Pulver, who has spent most of his career fighting bigger men, has an 8-0 record at 145 pounds. It’s Faber’s all-around game against Pulver’s sprawl-and-brawl.

I've heard of Urijah Faber and what people say about him is pretty good. I hope the show WEC on TV!

Saw the UFC fights early today. Too bad Brandon Vera and Matt Hughes lost. Bad decision against Vera IMO.

yeah.. premature stoppage for the Vera fight.. whats killing MMA now are the premature stoppages thats been happening lately.. I know the refs are after the safety of the fighters.. but man.. if that happens we'll never see.. ala rocky balboa come from behind fights anymore. lets give the fans what they deserve.. and im sure the fighters want to show more of their stuff.. heck in boxing a guy gets knocked down and is still given a chance to stand up.

While i agree that Vera's fight ws stopped way too early by arguably the worst ref in the whole industry.

The stuff I highlighted in your post I don't agree with. Standing eight counts are the reason why retired boxers often have brain damage and are half retarded. I mean cmon, Ali was great but look at him now? On the MMA front Bas Rutten cannot be healthier and Randy Couture still competes.
Also the addition of a groundgame entirely changes the danger factor when it comes to being knocked down. I'm sure as hell that boxing wouldnt allow standing after a knocdown as well if swarming and ground and pounding was allowed.

pandaboy I completely respect your opinion.. no point of debate.

I know for a fact about the difference in mma since ground game is involved....

I also wouldnt stand up someone whos completely out...

my only point is.. that the premature stoppages in mma is whats killing the sport.. and there have been a lot wherein the fighters are in no danger compared to the risk they take in boxing.

not that i want these mma fighters to be like how ali is now.. the refs are just playing it too safe.. to the point that game fixing is suspect.

Wanderlei Silva. :D that's a fan talking though...realistically the 205 division is so stacked that anybody can beat anybody there.

    86 is forrest vs rampage

suavecito.. i think theres a lot that can beat machida.. hes good but im not truly impressed since he doesnt really end his fights by kos, submission or stoppages.. i think his only win by ko was with sokodju..

for me.. there are more exciting fighters out there. but thats just me.. dont mean to create a stir:)

ufc 86 will be rampage vs forrest griffin. coaches of the current TUF 7.

Well i havent seen a fighter with so much technique and that elusive. Yeah i guess if somebody can literally get a hold of Machida could win that fight. The last fight with Tito where he slipped away from an arm bar is quite impressive.

Was so impressed w/ the ground "chess" game between Matt Wiman & Thiago Tavares.

Eventually had to be settled by stand-up via a knockout punch by Wiman.

The Fedor Emelianenko and Tim Sylvia match just ended. Saw the streaming video live on the internet. All of a sudden, Fedor is the champion... in less than a minute.

you know that fedor couture is coming soon.

i just hope that they fight on a regular mat like the UFC ring so couture can do his patented (illegal slam with headbut that cant be stopped or seen by the ref).

fedor only survived being suplexed by randleman bec of the bouncy pride boxing ring like mat.

you would think that fedor would be the huge favorite against randy, he is, but randy has always done so well as the underdog.

It was interesting to see Big John as the post fight commentator during the Affliction Live match between Fedor and Sylvia.

OT: They actually showed in fight science how Couture (and other MMA fighters) use the recoil of the octagon's cage to slam their opponents. They use it as a spring to launch other attacks as well. You can check out the Fight Science MMA episodes on Nat Geo here.
