I'd say go for an original--either that of Apple or one made by a highly-reputable brand (ex: Belkin, Moshi, etc.)--whichever has the best quality.

If you're buying it for use on a monitor that you'll use everyday for your work/profession--better buy the best. It is my belief that you should spend your money where you spend your time the most. Check out this good Lifehacker article: The Comfort Principle: Spend Money Where You Spend Your Time.

In any case, if you use it for your work/profession, it helps you earn money. Likewise, you might just end up wasting money if you buy a "Class A" product, and it turns out to be defective or produces inferior quality display--and you'd ultimately have to buy an original to replace it. Worse, a really bad one might even damage your Mac and/or your monitor--and you'd end up buying not just a new adapter, but also a new Mac and/or monitor.

I been using a Promate Mini Display Port to HDMI dongle since lat August. No problems. I got it because I couldn't find an Apple dongle anywhere at the time.
