Got stuck in EDSA northbound this morning for an hour and a half. The jam stretched from Buendia to Galleria. Just because of one stalled vehicle being towed in slow-mo at the Shrine flyover. Took me more than 2 hours to negotiate 20 kms. We are in hell.

This probably explains why traffic this morning was smooth from White Plains to Santolan flyover.

MMDA: "O, tingnan nyo. Walang traffic!"

mmm......stalled vehicles are a major source of daily traffic hell. Penalize vehicle owners who fail to maintain their vehicles by collecting Php 20,000.00 per tow along EDSA. That will force vehicle owners to maintain their vehicles up to standards.

    ^IMO, even Singapore has traffic...

Try passing Keppel Rd during the morning rush hour. Or MCE in the afternoon... Orchard Rd during weekends...

It's not as bad as EDSA, but still traffic.

We can't make our cars more expensive... The government should try to make cars cheaper since it supports a lot of people trying to make a decent living... From the sales people, bank staff, old school mechanics, vulcanizing shops, parking boys and even car wash guys... What will these guys do if we limit car sales?

A good public transport with affordable parking is what we need.

During GMA's regime, I used to park my car at SM North and take the train to Makati... Its no longer possible to do that now since the MRT situation is really bad!

Given the track record of this administration's DPWH, this is horrifying. Hukay dito, hukay doon, tapos iwanan. I suspect the Secretary is looking for the treasure of Yamashita. Either that or he is the Mole Man! Just picture Maysilo Circle.

The key phrase there is "while construction is ongoing." Seems like you can count on one hand how many projects this DPWH has actually completed. Sana they just let the grownups in the next administration handle it.

mmm.....that viaduct will be useless UNTIL the DPWH/MMDA or whoever the hell is in charge, declog Luzon Avenue (from the flyover crossing Commonwealth up to the Mindanao intersection). The area just after landing from the flyover is chockful of illegaly parked vehicles, tricycles etc. Also, the stretch of Luzon Ave./Congressional right after Visayas Ave. is a perennial chokepoint because of the numerous vehicles that are trying to park in the long row of commercial establishment (Robinson's, etc.) and a damn school.

Plans for EDSA interactive museum scrapped
    http://news.abs-cbn.com/video/natio...16/plans-for-edsa-interactive-museum-scrapped

I was just about to comment about this yesterday, how galactically stupid this administration's idea was to block off entire sections of EDSA and connecting roads like White Plains Avenue for two weeks. Just because these government idiots and "public servants" don't go to work on a daily basis, the rest of us do. EDSA is a major artery, the only one in fact, connecting the cities. Why are they so quick to block it off whenever it tickles their fancy? Ganon ba sila ka tanga? Or are they really just that insensitive?

Block off EDSA for TWO WEEKS? For a frickin museum that nobody can get to anyway. Why can't you get to it? Because some idiot blocked off EDSA!!!

I'm glad I was not the only one who objected. First to complain of course were every resident in that vicinity, followed by every Metro Manilan. Natakot na rin siguro. Baka in celebrating the 30th anniversary of People Power, they might have another people power on their hands.

In keeping with the holiday, may I just say to this outgoing bunch of "special" geniuses:

Tama na, Sobra na, Palitan na!

From a Facebook post by a Jethro Trogo:

    Ang Alamat Ng EDSA:

Once upon a time there was a farmer named Eduardo and a haciendera named Saturnina. Eduardo lived with the northern families while Saturnina lived with the Southerners. One day during a town fiesta, Eduardo met Saturnina and the two fell in love instantly. They met in secret for fear of getting caught by Saturnina's strict parents. Because of this, the only time they could be together is when Saturnina ventures to the North for her studies escorted in secret by Eduardo and when Eduardo goes south to sell his produce, accompanied by Saturnina in disguise. One day, Saturnina got caught while she was up north and was summoned to go back south. Eduardo knew they'd never see each other again, so he wished that their journey south would take as long as a lifetime so that they can be together forever. A diwata heard Eduardo's wish and felt bad for him. With one enchantment, the Diwata cast a spell on the road so that they can keep moving to their destination forever in each other's company. Eduardo and Saturnina never reached the south. Some say that Eduardo and Saturnina are still traveling the road, which people renamed after the two - the Eduardo Saturnina road which was later shortened to EDSA - forever bearing the enchantment that anybody travelling there will take forever to get to their destination - a symbol of Eduardo and Saturnina's unmoving and unending love for each other.

That is why, some nights you will still hear the cries of Saturnina's family in anguish when traveling that very same road. "Hayop ka EDSA, gumalaw ka naman!"

    The end.

I have always thought that EDSA stood for "Epifanio de los Santos Avenue".

It does. This is because you get to experience all sorts of epiphanies while stuck there for hours

It does, but apparently, its traffic is now a source of literary inspiration.

Speaking of that great institution, the LTO, we finally get to figure out why we pay 50 bucks for non-existent stickers...take a look

At least, they are honest enough to tell us that...
And if that isn't enough, take a gander on this and have a great traffic weekend everyone...

Do you mean the huge gaping hole in Maysilo Circle is still there? It's been more than a year since they dug that one out!

I haven't driven a car for almost a year, and I don't really miss it. We get by with buses, trains, uber, and a lot of walking to get to where we need to go here in Sydney.

I still can't forget getting stuck in EDSA for almost 6-hours last year when a genius decided to close off the northbound portion near the Edsa Shrine for the People Power Anniversary.

BREAKING NEWS: "The DOTC, in cooperation with the MMDA, LTFRB and LTO, has decided to close off all roads leading back to Metro Manila, thereby allowing those who stayed behind during the Holy Week an unobtrusive and unimpeded leisurely travel in and around the metropolis. All Hail Abaya!"
