Mm...I just checked: per pound , it is 71% more expensive than fancy amd expensive organic, grass-fed beef ground Ouch! I probably will eat this (if someone brings this to Manila). I don't mind if it is faux beef. As a long-time (since high school) patron of Bodhi Vegetarian (I love their bbq), this is probably loads better.
Ok, so we got to taste the Beyond Burger (or something like it) courtesy of a vegan friend, who is as rotund as the day he decided to turn to veggies, and well, let’s say the experience was an eye-opener. I tell you I balked at eating it all and frankly we only decided to finish it (even if I really wanted the beef briskets) in deference to our friend. My verdict is that some vegan meals may be getting used to, but at the moment, while our teeth had for a long, long time been tasting meat, it will be a struggle to overcome. @raypin yep the old Bodhi experience notwithstanding(they had one in SM Cubao food court then), the new vegan dishes are a joy less eating.
I always thought fast food chicken nuggets didn't have real chicken Beyond Meat and KFC partner to test fried plant-based ‘chicken’ | The Verge
Good 'ol Tim Hortons now have sandwiches with Beyond Meat sausages. Not bad, taste-wise. Doesn't break the bank, too. A couple of other fast-food chains offer it as well. They have to start early in conquering the fast food chains if they want to gain mass adoption. So far, it's promising.
some local buy one take one burgers are doing it waaay before, allegedly. you have that box-carton patty theory and the banana peel patty conspiracy. jk hahah
I didn't notice it on the S&C muffins at Tim Horton's. Must be because they drown first on their super hot coffee.
First time i tried it, it was Breakfast Sausage with Egg and Cheese from Tim Horton's, which is all over Canada. I liked it. Then we found Beyond Meat burgers available in the supermart so we usually buy a couple at least every other week. Pretty good alternative. Back in Sydney, Oz, I used to buy those Beetroot Burgers, which aren't too bad but I later found out how high the sodium content was, so I stopped.
Mm...impossible burger @the butcher Club K 11 HK.... looks the same as real beef patty, has the same mouthfeel.....taste? Not good enough. Has a funky after taste.
My experience with Impossible Burger is that it tastes like cardboard. Chewy, greasy cardboard. With lettuce and tomato. Maybe mayo but no catsup.
KFC is working with a Russian 3D bioprinting firm to try to make lab-produced chicken nuggets | The Verge
I haven't tried Impossible Burger yet. But I am kind of addicted to Beyond Meat burger patties. They don't taste like meat burgers, which is good in and of itself. The plant-based KFC are already here in our part of Canada. They even painted the KFC store in green and white stripes instead of red! Here's more info on the food. I haven't tried it, though. I prefer real chicken. Plus, it's still deep fried, so the "meat" may not be bad, but the way it's cooked is.
