whenever i insert a DVD+R DL blank disc into my superdrive, my mbp rejects it. i don't have problems with single layer DVDs nor with CDRs. i've searched around the different threads and can't find any similar subject. i hope someone can help me with this. incidentally, i use a 2.4GHZ C2D MBP. Thanks!
I don't have a problem. Maybe it's just your SuperDrive acting up? Try using the DVD+R DL disc with some other computer and check if it can be read as a blank disc.
thanks i'll try that. where do you source your discs? perhaps its also the discs. the ones i tried are philips branded which i bought from CDR King
i have that problem, too. have always had it with my mac superdrives, with the exception, i think, of my MBA drive which is rated to read and write +R as well as -R. -R DL discs are no problem. (and i'm using discs bought in the US.)
thanks for the info. i guess i should also try using -R DL discs just to make sure. any idea where i can get these discs in the Ph?
wait a minute... my macbook (aluminum) DOES read and write +R DL discs! this is just a few days old so i just assumed it was like my old powerbook superdrive, and another superdrive mac i had, that wouldn't write +R DL. what's your MBP's drive? here's mine (from "about this mac"): HL-DT-ST DVDRW GS21N: Firmware Revision: SA15 Interconnect: ATAPI Burn Support: Yes (Apple Shipping Drive) Cache: 2048 KB Reads DVD: Yes CD-Write: -R, -RW DVD-Write: -R, -R DL, -RW, +R, +R DL, +RW Write Strategies: CD-TAO, CD-SAO, CD-Raw, DVD-DAO Media: Type: DVD+R DL ID: RICOHJPN D01 Blank: Yes Erasable: No Overwritable: Yes Appendable: Yes Write Speeds: 2.4x, 4x
here's mine MAT****A DVD-R UJ-867: Firmware Revision: HA13 Interconnect: ATAPI Burn Support: Yes (Apple Shipping Drive) Cache: 2048 KB Reads DVD: Yes CD-Write: -R, -RW DVD-Write: -R, -R DL, -RW, +R, +R DL, +RW Write Strategies: CD-TAO, CD-SAO, DVD-DAO Media: Insert media and refresh to show available burn speeds
i guess i'll also try different brands. hopefully the problem is with the dvd disc hindi yung hardware. thanks!
i have the same problem with certain brands of DVDs bought from CDR King. I just have them replace it with a new one. It might just be the disc.
For DVD DL - I use the white cdrking brand (flowery print) For DVD +R - I use xmedia, the blank white one. These are the most reliable, at least for me
thanks for the heads up. just an update. i actually went back to exchange the discs as recommended by ncarandang. i replaced them with the "bear" brand DVD+R DL discs and my mbp is accepting them...i guess there were issues with the discs.
is it the black disc with the bear? that works really well with my MBP. i just can't find any in glorietta or greenbelt.
