i just got my mbp 2 weeks ago.. to replace my stolen macbook aluminum 13" 2.4 (this mac worked better for me.. ) anyways.. whenever im on safari every 5-10 mins.. my mac starts freezing... this started when i upgraded my mbp to snow leopard... http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2087489&tstart=0 the people on this thread have the same problem... its very very irritating.. what should i do?? thanks!!
maybe you can bring it to a service center for some troubleshooting. btw, did you install any programs or apps that might be causing conflict with SL?
im also a mac lover i've tried firefox.... and its still the same problem.. the freezing happens also when i use offfice programs.. ( ppt, ofice etc...)
i live in QC timog where is the nearest service center?? no i dont tink i installed anything that caused any conflict... well except for some "PORN!" JUST KIDDING
since it's relatively new, maybe you can backup your data and do a clean install of snow leopard? it might be an incompatible safari extension that's causing the problem. As a means of diagnosis, you can create a new, non-admin account and see if you still encounter the program freeze.
there's a digital hub in il terrazzo but i don't think they have a service center there. try senco along morato (it's in front of mang inasal).
ah, I think I know what's happening. when it freezes, do you have the beachball? looks like this is a job for... Alsoft DiskWarrior! connect your mbp to another mac via target disk mode (where your mac's HD is seen as an external drive). Using the other mac, use DiskWarrior to repair your mac's HD. most likely, this is a botched installation of Snow Leopard, and some directories need repair. If this doesn't work, reinstall SL. Hope this helps!
yup i keep on getting the beach ball.. is there another way of doin this??? i only have 1 mac here at home... TIA!
Basically, getting another mac would solve your issue. Kidding! I hope what macdrive007 suggested helps!
you can then try reinstalling Snow Leopard, better if its a clean install. Using DiskWarrior with another mac is your option if reinstallation is still not helping.
Curiously, how many GB of RAM do you have onboard? My friend installed 10.6 and is experiencing the same thing - she has 2GB of RAM. She's upgrading to 4GB tomorrow. Not sure if that will fix it, though.
same thing is happening on my macbook white 2.4ghz 2GB RAM after installing SL my safari became slower than in leopard. Will try to clean install and see what happens
This is crazy especially since a "faster Safari" is supposedly one of the key new features of SL. There's definitely something wrong here and I don't think it's the RAM since I believe this was working well with Leopard. Looks like I'll hold off my update to SL then. For those doing a clean install, please keep us updated. Thanks!
My MBP 13" 2.26GHz 2GB ram is just 5 days old and I've also "updated" (didn't do a clean install) to Snow Leopard and luckily I haven't experienced the problem you have stated or any slow downs. I don't know if the reason for the good performance of my MBP is that I've upgraded my MBP from a factory default state wherein I haven't installed any apps yet. I think one of the option just like what others have advised is to backup your files then do a clean install of Snow Leopard then observe the performance. If the problem still persists then maybe there's something wrong with the resources (e.g hard disk, memory, etc) of your MBP and maybe you could try to bring it to an authorized service center.
just upgraded my 13" 2..26 macbook pro last sunday (06 sep 09), no problems encountered like freezing, as philmugers suggested, do a back-up and do a clean install of snow leopard. good luck
I suggest you bring it to the nearest service center since your mac is still new. We just updated m cousins mbp and up to now it has no problems browsing on safari..
Try booting from your Recovery Discs and run Disk Utility and do a Repair Disk and Repair Disk Permissions. If problem stilll persists.... I'm willing to trade my Aluminum Macbook with your MBP...
