Mm…a very, very hearty congratulations to Maria Ressa of Rappler for being co-awarded the very prestigious 2021 Nobel Peace Prize along with another journalist, Russian Dimitry Muratov. Past winners include Nelson Mandela, Lech Walesa of Poland (a crucial figure in Poland who led his people to freedom from communism), the US civil rights leader, Martin Luther King Jr. and 4 US Presidents.

UP Diliman and Princeton grad….and now a Nobel laureate. Ang galing!

I think this will be an interesting twist in the presidential elections. Will her Nobel prize ferment a sense of deliberate resistance to the current regime and uphold the facts of history especially the atrocities of the Marcos regime to counter the growing BBM movement? In my feeds, I always see BBM guys and the pink crowd. Among the feeds, I take particular notice of the youth's endorsement of Chel. In this regard, I hope that the youth can teach others to have the capacity of good judgment, or else we are going to be fu***d up all over again. Why? Because we never learn from the lessons of history.

    Whan an achievement!
    What an honor!
    Respect to Ressa.

I'm sure never in Malacanang and its minions wildest and most perverted dreams did they ever think that the more they poison and tarnish
Maria Ressa's image, throwing everything they've got, even weaponizing the justice system, against her, the more she would get stronger.

Oh the irony of it all.

Divine justice at work is just so beautiful when it unfolds right in front of your eyes. I am still in awe.

As expected, the trolls have organized themselves to discredit and downplay what an amazing honor and achievement Maria Ressa's triumph is.

I wonder if the government will issue congratulations?

Mm…”The Kremlin has congratulated Russian journalist Dmitry Muratov for winning this year’s Nobel Peace Prize, hailing him as “talented” and “brave”.” Al- Jazeera.

Meanwhile in the palace by the river, defeaning silence.

    First off, congratulations!

Second, I can't believe people are always throwing some sort of shade or worse, discrediting the nomination/award (an article posted in PNA website SMH). A simple research on the Nobel Prize organization's website simply states this:

Anyway, I hope there will be more Filipinos in the future to win this prestigious prize.

^^^I don't think there are any trolls in this forum. Just a few members who still can't see the reality that this administration is an utter disappointment.

"Not opposing to anything" is not peace. That is subjugation and fascism.

Maria Ressa IS helping bring about peace. She does it by informing and alerting the public about a president and a regime that kills and has killed thousands of citizens extrajudicially, jails opposition members, employs 'advisers' and cabinet members who profit from the pandemic, etc. So that we may live in a society where such a tyrant or his children are not elected into office again next year.

That said, of course the daughter will run (taking the place of the placeholder bald senator), and of course she will win by a landslide, because Maria Ressa's Nobel matters little to the 85% of the voting population, who don't even read.

Well-deserved for Maria Ressa. And a singular and great honor to the Philippines, no matter what atrocious people/trolls say.
