    I recently tinkered with my mac to set up my Yahoo Mail with the Mail.app through MacFreePops.

    And now I changed my mind. I am sticking with gmail instead because I noticed that whenever I send email from my gmail account it automatically set the "Reply-to" to my Yahoo email address because of this procedure through Terminal.

    I can, however, try to replace this string with my Gmail address but I can't. Because I have three more gmail pop accounts set-up with my Mail. I need to undo this step. I need my mail to revert to the same old mail without mods. I want to undo the default Reply-to and just revert to status quo ante.

    I am also thinking of uninstalling my Mail and install it again. Will this fix the problem?

    Ohkay.I decided to do it my way: I AppZapper-ed my Mail.app only to find out that it will not reinstall from the Mac OS X Install Disk. GarageBand, which I've deleted before, reinstalled.

    Googled it and I this post helped me find Pacifist. Everything is great now. I've finally 'resolved' my problem. :)

    Have you guys tried simply deleting that "defaults" setting, using:
    Code:
    [FONT=Courier New]defaults delete com.apple.mail UserHeaders[/FONT]

    @alistair

    would that be sufficient? i think there's only one aspect of the freemacpops threat that deals with the terminal. will this clear everything?

    Um, I'm not sure of the other "defaults" that you have to set to use freemacpops. From what I read in the other thread, that's the only one (the "reply-to" field). The above command can easily be adapted to clear any other defaults setting (but just make sure that defaults setting doesn't require some valid value for the application to function correctly).
