Hi guys My White Mac's (late 2007) battery is acting up, it says zero (0) charge, then displays 95%, 97%, etc. when it reaches 99% and I remove the power cable, it suddenly goes back to Zero Charge. If its not on the power brick, it shuts down by itself. I just got my Mac after a month being away from it since being repaired for audio port issues. Im afraid to not use it again for this. If its a battery issue, will this get replaced by Applecare? Since I'm on it until next year. Thanks in advance.
Have it checked Treb22, if you can bring it to authorized apple center and ask for a spare white macbook battery and compare (if they have). If the spare works, then its the battery. I think Applecare will replace it. If the problem persists after the test swap, then its a different story.
thanks man, but is it safe to use until then? I think the apple service centers are closed until the next week.
Try to calibrate it first. Since batteries are considered consumable, it is only covered by the 1 year limited warranty. Manufacturing defects will be covered by the AppleCare Plan. Call AppleCare to get the best answer. They'll ask for the FCC and cycle count then come up with an answer if you are still covered or not.
I guess its safe to use until next week, Its better since you have enough observation period. Sorry but the one you said it shuts down suddenly, I think its really the battery.
I really hope that its just the battery, its easier to accept than the Logic Board, hehe. Aahh back to the Service Center...again!
