M nephew's MacBook's combo drive stopped reading discs. It's last use was installing Bootcamp drivers in XP. There was an error during that time and the XP didn't have sound. Today I noticed that it could not read any disc. IT just ejects them. Is there a possibility this is software related? Or are we looking at a replacement?

I think it's the optical drive already and not the software.
