i just observe this morning. is it normal that you press firmly the trackpad in able to drag items? i switch off my trackpad gesture in dragging, so in return im using the traditional hold mouse button (trackpad) then drag. the problem is, when i dragging, it seems that i need to press it firmly so that there will be no problem. can apple deal with this issue? tnx!

You can tap (using the trackpad) any item (be it folder or documents) 2x but hold the 2nd tap (don't lift it) then drag, then click again to drop.

i would have it checked. i use the same method and i don't have to press "firmly".

I drag items by single-clicking with my index finger, then moving my middle finger around the trackpad.

When dragging, I just use the trackpad as if it was the old one with the button -- just press down with your thumb and move your pointer finger around. Doesn't take much pressure at all, certainly not more than the trackpad with a physical button.

i usually do this, but after a while, this past few days, i observe that i need to put some little pressure over the trackpad to drag the item, if not, the file tends not being drag on the place i it must be moved!

what if my trackpad has a defect? could apple replace it? my warranty will lapse this november!:(

so my remedy is that i'm now using mouse at home and when i go out. sad to say, i'm afraid that my trackpad would crash after my warranty, i'm planninh to buy apple care, but i run out of cash because i bought new rams which cost me 4200. it is more important because my random crashes has been so often, but now, i don't experience anything like that anymore! :(

Bring it to a service center ASAP (I suggest Digital Hub/Walker). Have them try it out, they'll replace it under warranty if it's indeed defective.

so we have same unit. so on your case, it is only the left button. but for me, i observed that both has a problem.. i not that use in gesture when dragging so i turned it off. the as when i turned it on, i often drag the window with slight touch of the trackpad. sometimes it doesn't register. i planning to bring it tomorrow on apple center, probably on digital hub, because i find the people there helpful.

Hi everyone! I just want to ask, how come my trackpad isn't able to perform the three-finger browse on pictures and stuff? Is there anyone else here who has the same problem?

If you have the new MBP 13", there are times that these gestures are having their issues. One that I have experienced as well is losing those gestures (three, four finger gestures not working including expose).

There might be a couple of things that might be causing these but as help you can also try the one that I have tried when I encountered this problem.

(found this on an apple support discussion)
Open system preferences > trackpad. Disable the features that won't work (three, four finger gestures) and restart your Mac. Open system prefs > trackpad once more and enable the features you've disabled. It should fix your gestures.

To test, four finger gestures should load expose, desktop.

to test three finger gesture, open iPhoto and browse to your pictures using the three finger swipe and see if it'll work. Luck!

11 months old na ang MBP ko na unibody. just brought it to digital hub in GH and they fixed it. it required a trackpad replacement. since covered ng warranty, no problem.

i suggest you do the same and have it checked there.

oh, and get Applecare na, just for your peace of mind, as always.

    peace out!
