Redesigned Macbook Air with M2 chip (overall 30-40% faster than M1) that comes in 4 colors (Midnight blueish-black!!) and has an 18 hours battery life. Price starts as USD $1199. Yup, I'm getting one instead of a Pro. Was eyeing an M1 Pro 14in to compliment my Mac Studio, but these are more than enough and the new designs are simply gorgeous.

At this price, its no-brainer to get the MBP 14 instead.. Unless you really want the form factor and colors.
Mm…might spring for the new MBA. Planning SG trip this July. Have not bought a new laptop in a very long time.
Hopefully they adapt that midnight color for the elusive iMac 27in with black bezel; that's going to be really sleek. I have a strong feeling though that the next products who will get these color treatments are the iPad Pros. Those need a selling point and at the moment, they're too powerful for what they are, so Apple needs to pull consumers via the new aesthetics route.
Is it a good idea to have it customized to 16gb memory? Would anyone know the timeline/wait time for it?
16gb air: I personally use my company's 2018 13in MBP and I just want to like the touchbar-- but I can't. Go with an Air if you're not spending $2000 or needing a 16in screen, you'll be very happy with it. Trying to convince my company to give my current machine to a new fresh hire someday and in exchange, an Air M2 for me; problem is, we're all good friends and know me that I just want the new Air as "he's that Apple guy" in the company.
If this is going to be your sole computer and main machine, the higher ram x storage, the better. The biggest problem with going 16/512 is that you're just 20k away from the far superior MBP 14in, so if you're going that route, either you value that 20k difference or portability is a big factor for you.
Some bad news for thr MBP 13 M2. It seems its SSD is slower than the base M1. I hope this is just a defective unit.
Did Apple ever mention anything about when are they launching/selling the M2 Airs? For some reason, I initially wanted the Midnight color ones, but since its really more of dark blue, I'm kind of leaning towards space gray nowdays. Hmm.
