I might upgrade my 10 year Macbook Air . I was wondering longterm wise which of the 2 I should get?

I do mostly typing with sometimes light gaming .

    "almost" is not "same"

Personally, I will always choose the baseline MacBook Pro.

80% of people will buy a MBA over a MBP.

Highest end 2010 MBA will feel meh to the cheapest 2020 MBA.

There's also the law of diminishing returns.

Avoid the MacBook Air 2020, thermal design is sub par. You are better off with two fans on the MacBook Pro 2020. only downside is you'll be getting 8th gen processors on the base model. 10th gen on the. 2.0Ghz models.

Hi! I actually got the MBA 2020 and I was disappointed. I wish I just got the MBP baseline model. This thing just gets hot really quickly even if I just do basic multitasking (zoom calls, safari, ppt, music). I hope this helps!

Get the baseline MBP. This was also my dilemma some weeks back. But after some research, it's the thermal design of the MBA that got me off. If it weren't so, I would have gotten the i5 MBA over the baseline 13" MBP.

Macbook Pro. You mentioned light gaming, and just to feel that you've really upgraded since you're also coming from an air.
