Can anyone suggest a brand of SSD and RAM for my MBP 13" Mid 2012? Will a budget of 15k fit for a 512SSD + 8gb ram or not? As much as possible, the cheaper alternative would be ok. Thanks!
Hi Yoca! is your MBP retina? If not then you can look for louie in tipidpc (i just saw his contact details being posted by someone). I heard he's very reliable and can install it for you. You cant go wrong with the Crucial MX100 or BX100 (newer model) and Crucial Memsticks. I believe he sells both.
Hi guys! Im going to America for a vacation and i thought about changing my hdd to a ssd because its way cheaper there! Any brands you can recommend? My macbook is 13" Late 2011 model. Thanks!
Hi everyone. I was able to have my 2009 13" MBP upgrade to SSD thanks to Louie of tipidpc. I highly recommend him. I went to his store for the installation and it just took around an hour. I just installed OS X at home. Saw some stocks of Samsung and Crucial SSDs, btw.
a bit OT, But wow, louie has done pretty well in the business. I used to order ram sticks from him way back when it was his only product line. And now he is carrying a lot of stuff, hard work sure does pay off.

Some Samsung SSDs may suffer from a buggy TRIM implementation A new bug may be present in the firmware of some Samsung SSDs. An engineer from search provider Algolia has written up a blog post detailing his team's saga of troubleshooting data corruption in some of their servers. Ultimately, Algolia narrowed down the problem to an apparent bug in the TRIM implementation used in Samsung drives. This TRIM bug can cause affected drives to zero out 512-byte blocks of data in incorrect, seemingly random locations. For larger files, the net result is corrupted data, while smaller files can be overwritten entirely. Algolia ruled out other causes for the corruption by carrying out a thorough investigation of several other layers in their service's stack, including Linux's RAID implementation, kernel, and filesystem. The company also found that servers running Intel drives were unaffected by this issue. The affected drives in use at Algolia are: Samsung MZ7WD480HCGM-00003 (model SM843TN) Samsung MZ7GE480HMHP-00003 (model PM853T) Samsung MZ7GE240HMGR-00003 (model PM853T) Samsung SSD 840 PRO Series Samsung SSD 850 PRO 512GB If Algolia's determinations are correct, this problem is potentially quite serious. It also wouldn't be the first SSD-related black eye for Samsung, which recently issued two separate updates to remedy the read slowdowns we've seen with the 840 EVO SSD.
Hi mmarc. Just had my 13" MBP unibody (2009) upgraded to SSD early this month. Went to Louie's shop for the SSD installation. I opted to get the Crucial 120GB M500 SSD. I'm using my MBP for downloads that's why I picked 120GB instead of higher GB SSDs. Boot is faster when I upgraded.
Just got my package from Amazon. Samsung 850 Pro 256GB. I was wondering if I can have it installed somewhere. Thanks!
^You can install it yourself. It aint hard at all. - there are lots of tutorials in Youtube on how to do it. - if it's an iMac though, it could be a different story. so what kind of Mac are we talking about here?
