do you think this version is full of bugs? grrr! i get loads and tons of error when connecting to my new ipod touch 2nd generation. it says "it can't connect to blah blah blah an unknown error occured", i did some restarting and plugging and unplugging the usb, sometimes it works sometimes it doesnt. Its irritating me when i cant sync my spanking brand new ipod touch 2g. any suggestions? im using a PC XP...
I've had 8.0.1 since the update was released and have had no problems with it, or synching it with my 2nd Gen Touch. Try downloading a fresh version and installing on top of the current version and see if it changes anything for the better.
ill try. but will it change my playlists or album artwork? the last time i upgraded it did change some album artwork. My friends use my computer to sync their iphone, ipod touch 1st gen on my computer with the same itunes library that i have. could it be possible that thats causing this glitch?
I'm using also iTunes 8.0.1 and it's working flawlessly with my ipods. If you have some issues on it on the XP the best thing to do is to uninstall itunes, quicktime, and related applications and reinstall itunes here is an article on how to do that on XP.
did some googling with the error itunes gave me (0exE8000035) and i found out that i should connect the USB on the 'main' computer port. (back side of the PC) its what i did and its working great now. Whew what a relief.
i did some syncing and tough luck, the problem is still there even after moving the usb from the front to the back. Anyway, whats intriguing me is that, when i connect my ipod touch 2nd gen to my itunes, a bell like sound can be heard for a second and then a pop up dialog box would say Apple Ipod Camera connected (huh? ipod touch has a camera now?) and for a few minutes an error from itunes would pop up saying itunes cannot connect to ...'s iphone and unknown error blah blah blah...now its saying its an iphone now? hmmm...what should i do?
nothing that i noticed so far. anyway, i was able to sync my ipod touch (after plugging and unplugging several times) in the middle of the syncing process, my PC made a bell like sound (the sound xp produces when a usb device enabled gadget is plugged or unplugged) this would signify that ipod touch was removed right? but it wasnt removed. grrr! i have this problem ever since upgrading to 8.0.1 and also i had this problem weeks before i purchased my ipod touch (i used my iphone to sync to itunes) what should i do?
try to go to your nearest Mac service center... my friend has a nano Ipod, and she experience the same problems... she visited the nearest Mac service center and they did their thing.. after the visit, it would be replaced for another new Nano iPod
I don't think it's your ipod touch. [Have you tried synching it on another machine?] It's your XP system. Are you experiencing issues with other apps? Maybe it's DLL hell or something like it. Can you try running a registry fix utility? No problems with iTunes 8.0 nor 8.0.1 on Leopard.
no problems with other apps. i had this issue since i upgraded to 8.0.1 i dont think this is caused by ipod since my iphone is affected is affected too any ideas?
did some searching, and i think im not alone. Did what the poster on how to resolve, to no avail. Downloading a fresh copy of itunes 8.0.1 and will install to another PC.
i've lost songs already. I'm thinking its because of genius. A friend has experienced the same thing so I am thinking it might not be an isolated case.
i was suprised to see a while ago that "convert selection to ipod/iphone" or "...to mp3" does not exist anymore within itunes when right-clicking files in the library. that was a convenient feature.
It's still there. If you want to convert to MP3 format, please select MP3 format under Import Settings in Preferences|General. Right-click on a group of tracks, you'll see "Create MP3 Version".
what about video conversion? there used to be "convert to... " option when right-clicking a video file in the library.
@ferrarista44: It's still there. Right click on a video/TV/Movie File and there's a "Create AAC version" or "Create Apple TV Version"
thanks! but here's a sample issue i'm having: 1. i imported an m4v file to the library. 2. i right-click and "create apple tv version" (i dont have any other conversion option really when i right click) 3. itunes says "one or more videos were not converted because they are already in the correct format". (safe to assume correct since it's m4v already). 4. so i sync the video to the iphone.. 5. i get the error "<file> was not copied to the iPhone <name> because it cannot be played on this iPhone." before, i dont get a problem converting vids and synching to the iPhone since the option specifically says "convert selection to ipod".
Have you successfully synced this particular video before? Otherwise, the m4v's encoding parameters aren't within iPhone's limits. Please check Apple's website for allowable frame rates, sizes, etc.
MPEG Streamclip is a good video converter you can use and it's free. I'm not sure, but there may be a preset for iPod encoding parameters, but you'll have to check that out. Just encode and import them into iTunes.
