    iTunes 7

    New Features:

    - Buy Disney films from the iTunes Store and go to the movies without leaving your comfy chair.
    - With Cover Flow, you can flip through your digital music and video collection just as you would CDs.
    - Just $4.99 in the iTunes Store, iPod games give you hours of fun.
    - Make the most of your time by telling iTunes in what order to download content from the iTunes Store.
    - Get at-a-glance information about everything on your iPod.

    I'm now familiarizing myself with the new version of iTunes. Version 7 has loads of enhancements.

    So far, here's what I've seen;
    new File menu commands:
    - backup to disk
    - Sync iPod (instead of Update iPod)
    - Transfer Purchases from iPod (now you can legally copy songs FROM the iPod, as long as you purchased them or you're authorized)

    - No more Visualizer menu, Instead a new View menu takes its place
    - View related commands have been removed from the Edit menu

    Under the Advanced menu:
    - new Get Album Artwork command (woohoo!)
    - new Convert ID3 tags
    - Convert is now Convert Selection to AAC (depends on which format you've set import preferences to);

    - new iPod Support and Service command under Help

    More to come...

    The first thing iTunes 7 did when I launched it was to perform a "Determining Gapless Playback information". It took a while to do it for 13,000 songs (yes, I have that many). I presume it reads CD track numbers and album names and it makes sure to allow those songs from the same album to play in order to on iPods without that annoying split second gap.

    A bit sluggish don't you think?

    But with so many new stuff under the hood, this upgrade's so compelling.

    Check out memory usage. This thing's a hog on Cover Flow.

    List view, cover view, cover flow view -- amazing! It makes iTunes fun to use!

    At first, it didn't look too good on my iTunes 7, but after I used the Get Album Artwork feature, majority of my albums were being updated! (it's still not done, it's taking a while)

    I don't know how well this feature will sit with privacy advocates, but I don't care! It's so cool. It saved me the trouble on over 3000 albums.

    Have anyone tested iTunes 7 with current Front Row? Ok pa ba? Coz Front Row 1.3 is only available via Software Update.

    It's still ok with me. Though the iTunes logo color did not update.

    You can now manually set what kind of Video you have and group accordingly unlike the previous version that you need some workaround.
    Reorganizing the info preference for Prison Break 2 and Vanished 1 with no problem at all.:cool:

    It's great!

    I connected my iPod to my Powerbook, which has little iTunes content, (my iPod is linked to my desktop PowerMac) and iTunes gave me an option to transfer all my purchased music to the laptop, without actually linking to the Powerbook's library and wiping out the content of my iPod!

    Now I can listen to my bought music on my laptop as well.

    Great. Just when I joked about it in this morning's monster iChat..

    Just plug in an iPod. iTunes' left pane categorizes the iPod as one of the "Devices." I suppose many other devices are supported too.

    It would also be cool to also have yourself appear on an album cover and getting flipped around along with Bono, Astrud, Marley, and co.!

    You can't use the Get Album Artwork unless you register in iTunes Store with your credit card having a valid US billing address, right?

    ^^Correct, you have to have an iTunes Store account to do that.
