I don't know why it peeves me to see and hear people reduce the name the iPod touch to "itouch", but it just does. i guess it's the same feeling I get when people call me 'Bert' when my name is Elbert.

No offense meant to anyone concerned. this post is just me ranting unnecessarily.

    Yun lang po.

    Peace.

    :)

What's interesting is that, when you search for "itouch" using google, all results in the first page refer to the iPod Touch. The top result even points to the Apple site.

Because Filipinons are lazy, hahaha. My name is Jingo and they call me Jing. 1 more letter they always omit. It. I also hear people, "ah you use apple?" and "ganda ng mga latop ngayon noh? 9referring to PCs and netbooks.

I had a friend whose nickname is KC (pronounced Kay-See) but we just end up calling her Kays. Anyway, I also get a little irked when people call it as itouch. Call me green-minded but I find it "malaswa". "Pwede patry ng itouch mo?" You get the picture.

I call it "touch" when referring to iPods in general, when my sister in-law's classic was acting up, I told her to just get a "touch"

I don't like it when people call it iTouch either, though I may have called it that at one point or another unintentionally. But it does make me shiver that I did.

Ditto. When the topic is all about iPod, I find 'Touch" acceptable as well.

Regarding my own nickname.... My nickname is ReiVi. It is already a shorter version of my fullname, yet some people insist on calling me 'Rei'. What's even frustrating is even if I ALWAYS place my nickname (in bold letters) in office emails as part of my signature, I still get replies that begin with 'Hello Rei....' Grrrr! Then, whenever we talk face-to-face and I tell them my nickname is "ReiVi" and not "Rei", they have the nerve to ask what the difference is. Grrr!

Okay. Sorry for the rant. Back to the original topic guys.

if iPod is the family name, then you should be El Cuenca, or CueBert. And I'm PangPhil. I agree that it should be called iPod Touch or simply Touch if the iPod topic is established.

I can't wait for the new iClassic, iNano and iShuffle next month...

Thanks, Elbert. Been waiting for someone to say something about it - I thought it was just me.

    Irritating, really.

I think it is not about Filipinos being lazy but more of Filipinos being too patronizing. If they call you by your real name in its entirety, they/we think it's too formal thus losing the effect of you being close to that person. Pa-chummy effect 'ika nga.

    Kaya (El)Bert..close tayo ha! :D

my heart started to beat faster when i saw this thread! hindi pala ako nag iisa!!! hahahaha

so i googled a little more and saw some people comment on the macrumors forum, its might be because of the iphone, that much closer to having one? or atleast sounds like you have one, they brought up a point that NO ONE calls their ipod classics- iclassics, ishuffles, iNanos, or iMinis ...

pero after my googling, i think this brings out the side of apple fanboys that everyone hates... i wonder how the apple fanboys will feel if steve calls it the iTouch hahaha (which i think is next to impossible haha)

I don't really bother correcting people although it peeves me a lot when I hear the words "itouch". It just sounds wrong on so many levels. Hahahahaha

Thanks sir Elbert for a thread to let off the steam.
