Hi. My trusty MBP 15” mid-2012 i7 2.5 gHz, 16gb RAM, 2tb SSD running Catalina is approaching 10 years. It cruises along with daily work, can handle a hundred tracks in Logic Pro, and even do some simple HD editing in FCP before slowing down. But OBS (2.7.1) kills it. I'm using two displays, the built in, and an external on via HDMI. CPU activity tops out at 100%, and I need to reboot and kill all background apps to smoothly stream to my classes on FB live using my Logitech Brio. Its even worse with my DSLR and a USB capture card. The video delay is about 3 seconds. Finally, I was watching a live concert stream on FB with an external monitor last night, and it stuttered in the last 10 minutes of a 60 minute show. It my MBP begging for a substitute already? Given the likelihood that online classes will last the entire 2021-2022 school year, Is the upcoming M1x/M2 MBP an inevitable buy?
