Has anyone used their ipod touch at the gym? Is it advisable?

Or better to use Nano or shuffle?

ipod touch is too big imo. I use my nano extensively plus you can buy the nike ipod sports kit if u like to run outside.

I'm planning on 'trying' to run. It's good to know that ipod is sturdy enough for running. Maybe i should buy a nano...

A new 'gadget' might inspire me to go to gym. :)

yes, the nano & nike + kit 'inspired' me to run 2 years ago. of course it still boils down to discipline/will to keep going. now i run without the nike+ kit, no iPod either (although we still have a red nano and the new shuffle). takbo lang ng takbo!;)

I use my iPod touch but only on the climber and the threadmill. When it's time to do weights, I switch to my Nano. I find that watching a movie or TV episodes helps while working out. If I'm running, I set my Nike+ thing on my Nano and leave it on the side while I watch stuff on my Touch.

No fancy armbands for me, just a silicone case. I prop it up on the control board.

no ipod while running? galing. Long cardio is boring kasi without music.

Unless you run outdoors and maganda environment. :)

try buying the nike belt bag that has an iPod pocket on it. I have one and it works fine running on a treadmill, running outside or while working out. it doesn't even bother me when I'm sprinting, about the speed of 20.0 on the tread.

iPods are great for gym use. You don't necessarily need the Nanos to work out.

Remember that back in the 90s people were using huge CD players with "buffer technology" while jogging. I have rarely ever had my iPod skip or miss a beat while running on pavement.

It all boils down to comfort. Given that the Touch is bigger than a Nano or a Shuffle, will you be comfortable enough to have it with you without it disrupting your workout? Some folks have no problem with the Touch during workouts while some prefer the relative lightness of the Nano or Shuffle.

Furthermore, some folks prefer bringing their Touch to the Gym because of some workout apps they have installed in their units. Some apps have workout routines in them, some have videos of certain exercises, etc. Given the number of workout apps that are now available for the Touch, it's safe to assume more and more people are bringing their iPod Touch to the gym.

Also, the iPod Touch, specifically the 2nd generation, has a built-in Nike+ receiver. All you need is the sensor in your shoe and you're good to go jogging (whether outside or on a treadmill). As such, it's safe to say the Touch can withstand workouts like the Nano and Shuffle, provided you secure it properly. ;) Otherwise, why else would Apple give the 2nd-gen Touch Nike+ capabilities?

You know your body and comfort level better. Given that the Touch can withstand the bumps and shakes of running, it's now just a matter of personal comfort.

The classic has a 30 minute buffer so you can run for 30 minutes before it seeks for another 30 minutes worth of music.

iPod nano and touch has built in nike receiver but I'd use touch since I only work out on treadmills, but I have the iPhone na so no biggie....

There are workout apps for iPod Touch?? Nice. I didn't know that. I hope they are free. Hehe.

Maybe i should get iPod Touch instead of Nano. More expensive but might be more sulit in the end.

I don't really do a lot of running. I use different machines at the gym so i guess a bigger iPod might not be that difficult to handle.

depends on the exercise and where u place ur ipod.

doing arm exercises while an ipodtouch/iphone wrapped in ur biceps. same if you clip it in ur waist and start doing squats. i use a nano and clip it in my waist.
