    Run Disk Utility from /Applications/Utilities/

From Disk utility select your HD then Click on Repair Disk Permissions.

Did you get the message window with the 4 check boxes when you hold the command (the Apple key) and option keys when you first start iPhoto?

Also, are you still on iPhoto 5? What kind of hardware are you on? Might be better if you upgrade to iPhoto 7 is iLife '08.

if you want to change your wallpaper, you don't need iPhoto for that. ctrl+click on the desktop and you will see a contextual menu that says "change desktop background" or you can go to system preferences>Desktop & Screensaver. click on the desktop tab, then manually look for your desired photo.

Try reinstalling iPhoto. backup your library first.

@8cats, iLife '08 (which has iPhoto 7) is not included with Leopard, it's a separate purchase. You can install iLife '08 on Tiger too :)

Patrick, baka you mean iWork 08? iLife 08 does come with the macbooks. My wife's macbook is a Pre-Leopard Tiger and she had iLife 08 there. :)

8cats, nothing will happen to your photos if you reinstall iLife, pero backing up is still a good safety procedure. Just insert your OS X disc and choose to install iLife. this should clear it.

if not, go to Apple and download the latest updates (as opposed to letting Apple auto-install the update for you). make sure it's for Tiger :)

    HTH!

iLife does not come with Retail versions of OSX. It only comes free with pre-installed OSX on your macbook purchase. Let's say you have a macbook with Tiger pre installed and you purchased a retail version of Leopard and you did an erase and install, iLife will not be there when you boot Leopard.

@cryptonomikon, nope, I meant iLife :) iLife is not included in any version of OS X. The latest version of iLife is included though with every new Mac. If a new version comes out after you bought your Mac, you have to purchase a separate retail package of iLife (available in single-user or family packs) to upgrade the new version.

    Looking over your shoulder...
I need held on iPhoto, as well. I recently upgraded to iPhoto '08.

How do you access the photos from the iPhoto '08 Library without opening iPhoto?

Before, it was easy to copy and get pics from the old iPhoto Library Folder. This left the EXIF data of pics intact. Now , you can't copy the pics except by copying them while running iPhoto '08. The pics are ok, but the EXIF data gets messed-up. :slanted:
