Edited my post for more clarity. Why is it that when I import photos to Iphoto from finder, it saves a copy of each imported file in the modified folder of Iphoto in finder? Take note, I have not modified any file in Iphoto yet and yet all the files I imported have copies in the modified folder. Since, I would like to control file storage, I deselected the "copy files to Iphoto library folder". True enough, there are only thumbnail versions saved in the data and originals folder but the modified folder has full size copies of every file that I imported.
I think it's really like that... When you modify a photo by re-sizing, rotating or de-saturating, the modified photo gets stored in a modified folder. The originals remain in the originals folder, unchanged. I'm also new to this, so I haven't tried tinkering with it, yet.
Oh, I forgot to mention, I have not modified any photos on Iphoto and yet it has all my files stored in the modified folder. Weird
If you're talking about the smaller sized files, i think thats the "thumbnail" versions of the photo. This is what iPhoto displays, but if you click to edit it, it will pick out from the files the original one. I usually use these thumbnails for blogs. Its smaller, and easier to upload.
Nope, the modified folder contains the full size files. Like 4MB each and the weird thing is that, I never modified any files yet. They are fresh from importing. I have lost sleep over this and tried it many times last night. It's a hit or miss thing. Sometimes it works fine and does not create copies in the modified folder while other times, when importing, full size copies of files are saved in the modified folder. Weird
