Came across this discussion recently: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/7244825?tstart=0 There doesn't seem to be a solution, nor an acknowledgement from Apple about an antenna problem in the 6S family. I wanted to know if anybody else based in PH was experiencing this issue or if it's isolated to just my phone. Basically, I lose signal when I'm on the move. My wife, who uses an iPhone 6, doesn't experience the same problem. TBH, I only started noticing it when I started playing Pokemon Go. But I've also experienced losing signal while using Waze, so I'm afraid it may be a phone problem. My 6S+ is brand new, btw (bought May 28, 2016 from PMC). I've been in touch with Apple Support but all their suggested solutions have not worked (i.e. new SIM, restore from backup, restore in Recovery Mode). PMC is asking me to leave my phone for 1-2 days so they can try and replicate it but that's not an option for me at the moment.
My wife's iPhone 6S+ had the same problem, she frequently gets "No Service" whenever she's in a moving vehicle. Her phone was issued by Globe earlier this year so we got certification from globe to have the phone repaired by the Apple authorized service center here. We are now waiting for her replacement phone to arrive. The problem with her unit seems to have started after I had the IOS upgraded to 9.3/9.3.1 but the problem didn't go away even after re-installation of the full ios package (several times).
I experience weak or no signal with my 6S occasionally, especially when it is in my bag. But when I restart it, the signal gets stronger.
story of my life with smart. toggling airplane mode off and on usually fixes the problem or a full restart when it's being stubborn.
I also experience this no service issue on my 6s Plus especially when I returned from HK. I remembered when I was there, my phone received a Carrier Update and when I went back here in PH, I no longer have LTE signal in my room (which I normally had before and even got a decent mobile data speed) and oftentimes the No Service issue appears on my phone.
same problem ever since on my 6+ on smart. i don't have issue with 6 on globe. i guess this must be smart issue.
I'm on Globe, so it may be safe to assume it's NOT a carrier issue. Toggling Airplane Mode on and off is what I do, too. It doesn't fix the problem all the time though (I sometimes have to wait as long as 20 seconds in Airplane Mode before I turn it off to get any signal back) so I end up doing a complete restart as well. I guess it goes without saying how very annoying this can get.
No, I have not. I was hoping I wouldn't have to go the Smart SIM route since my whole family's on Globe.
Well, this is a way to isolate the issue. It may be a location issue (where Globe's signal is not that good).
In my case, phone is globe locked so it can't be switched with other telco's sim. We did have the sim replaced by globe but same problem. It is not a case of weak signal also since only her phone loses signal. My android phone as well as my son's 5s continued to have strong signal in a moving car but not the 6s+ of my wife.
I wanted to test this out for a few days before I got back here with the results, and after about a week of observation, I'm leaning towards believing it's a hardware issue. Basically, I turned off LTE (i.e. set the Voice & Data option to just 3G) and did not experience the "No Service" issue at all. There were still moments when I seemed to lose internet, but I think those were more due to 3G coverage than to a total loss of signal. Perhaps the 6S series has an inherent problem switching back and forth between LTE and 3G that results to dropped service? I think I remember reading before that the iPhone 6S+ has two antennas (though I can't find any resources online to confirm this). Separate antennas for 3G and LTE maybe, and this is what's causing the problem?
It happens to me as well occasionally 3 times on my Smart Prepaid line. Whenever,I'm in my room the only solution is to turn off and then on.
Also experincing this. I have a 6s plus. Another issue I have is when I use strava. When I start my run/bike my phone will start to have the "no service" issue. Dont know if this is connected to the issue or an app issue.
I have this problem, too. I bought my 6S from PMC last November. Me and my husband are avid Pokemon Go players so every time na lang I don't have GPS or I can't get the stops just because I'm Smart. I was thinking of getting an extension line from his Globe Postpaid. I hope it's not the phone
My wife's 6s purchased last weekend also shows this kind of problem. Whenever we are on the road (NLEX and EDSA), her phone's signal suddenly goes to "No service". Then moments later, signal is normal again. But when she is in the office or at home, there's no problem at all. * iOS 9.3.5 * Globe Postpaid * LTE setting enabled * Already done "Reset Network Settings" We'll try to update to 10.0.1 later. I also hope that it's not the phone.
Are you indoors when you encounter the no GPS issue? You may just need to switch on wifi to resolve this.
